Ordered my new Tubi off Manu at Scuderia. It's custome made and has round tips designed to fit in the S2 111s. Takes 5-6 weeks for completion. Has anyone else ordered one?

I have a tubi on my regular S2..

Install is not too difficult:TUBI installation on Elise S2

Current model of the exhaust uses a slightly different stabilizer band, but basic installation should be similar.

Arno, how does it sound as that silencer is the same size as the original lotus one, in contrast to all other after market ones I've seen.

I'd say it's a very 'controlled' sound. Not intrusve or a problem with your neighbours (or any law enforcement people).

So far it hasn't been a problem on any track. I guess you could even get away with removing the cat and stay below the noise limits.

The internal design is of course completely different from the standard silencer (it is as much a straight-through design as you can do with a twin-outlet box), but it's definitely not as loud as some of the others out there.

I guess the RaceLine unit is most comparable in this respect (it's also big).

From inside the car it's not very noticable at 'cruising' speeds. No droning or vibrations in the car, but when you take the revs up to the limiter then it has a nice 'howl' to it. Tunnels make it sound pretty nice too

Only around 3500rpm is it really noticable, but still in no way bothersome or irritating (IMHO at least)

At idle (when warm) it has a very nice 'rumble'.When it's cold then it actually silences more. I found this a good feature to keep the eighbours happy as I leave for work early

I like it a lot.. I use my car on a daily basis and I suspect I would not have been happy with a JanSpeed or similar. Simply too intrusive.

Glad to hear it's quiet on startup as I too start work early. I had a Tubi on my 355 and neighbours started complaining. So much so, the cops were waiting for me one morning and busted me for speeding...

Was the Tubi noticably lighter than the stock exhaust?

Where the standard one is made from a sad excuse for steel (pretty flimsy stuff) and is stuffed to the neck with silencing material the Tubi is made from pretty thick-walled stainless steel. (Try tapping the outside when you get it: it's solid!)

Both seem to cancel eachother out somewhat.All in all they are of similar weight.

I have the B&C which has smaller dual silencers - it was noticeably lighter, so surprised if the tubi weighs the same as the lotus lump of pig iron. Tis a big exhaust though.

Share your thoughts on the janspeed, just don't think it sounds nice (kinda flatulent at times ;0 )

anyone done/doing rolling-road comparisons of the standard vs others (especially tubi) on the S2 yet?

Not really as far as I know. Looking at tests done with the S1 then difference on a standard engine is not spectacular though.

You'd probably see between 4 to 5 HP max, depending on the engine itself (some come from Rover already a little more 'capable' than others and respond better)

Biggest advantage is psychologic.. It now sounds like a proper sportscar

Also the engine does usually rev more freely to the upper rpm ranges, especially when combined with a good induction kit like the ITG or Hurricane.

Big increase in smiles, modest in HP

Semi- realted I suppose.....

Anyone had any probs with noise restrictions on track days with any exhaust/induction/cat by-passes? Bit worried now it is on order!!
