I contacted a dealer for a possible Exige 260 cup, something I was waiting until the Paris show to decide upon and I've been told it's now too late to order one. The only Exige currently available is the Roger Becker edition.

I was only waiting for the Paris show to see what the replacement engine plans were. If they weren't to my liking I was all set to go for one of the last supercharged toyota zzge units (which are very much to my liking). Alas as much as I admire Roger Becker and like the edition that bears his signature, it's no Cup 260 in my eyes.

There was no word on the replacement engine at Paris amid all the other hubbub. Does this really mean there will be no Exiges at all next year? Can Lotus really survive on the Elise 1.6, Evora and Evora S? Something very strange is afoot.

Has anyone heard any different?

Exige production finished some time ago.

The dealers are only selling what's left in the system.

When they film Mad Max 26, they'll draw back teh covers and say look, it's the last of the Yota engined Exiges smile

I'm really narked that I didn't know that in time.

Surely the S2 Exige has been a comparatively big seller for Lotus? For such an uncompromising car they seem to have sold shed loads of them.

This looks like a deal, no doubt you can get a few grand off that asking price...

Where have you been all week? tongue out
Elise 1.6, Evora and Evora S are all thats available now until 2013.
New Elise doesn't land until 2015(ffs!),no mention at all about the Exige in the immediate future so i guess they're moving away from the track day cars frown

As previously mentioned I was waiting for Lotus to announce the replacement engine at the Paris show.

I still think the Evora V6 engine conversion is the way to go on the S2 Exige. It's been done in the US, just need some UK indie and a few owners to fund it.

Check out the torque on this puppy (240lb/ft between 2k & 6k rpm):

err.. so the fact Toyota stopped making the 2ZZ over a year ago did not give you any hints?

They'll still be made for the moment, but for ROW market only, not Europe. Europe gets the 1.6 Elise and Evora only.

Unless they've managed to pull the wool over everyones eyes and have a big surprise in store.

Surely all they need to do is pick a new toyota engine to keep production going?

I can only imagine the number crunchers don't think it's worth their while re-engineering the car. I guess part of the appeal of the ZZGE engine was that it was a high performance unit out of the crate. If Lotus picked another toyota four pot they'd have to uprate it at their expense presumably, adding further costs to the whole project.

I'd love to see some sales figures for the Exige, I bet the S2 sold in numbers far beyond what Lotus were predicting for it. It really found a niche as a brilliant road and track car. GT3 capability for half the price (and better looking too in my eyes).

If everyone knew about this where the hell were the Exige is dead threads?! That's big and very sad news. And bloody annoying for someone like me who was waiting to get one.

As someone has already said there are a couple of new car's at dealer's for sale, grab them while they are available

I'm not buying anything until I see the new range, thought about an Evora\ or even an Evora S but now what's the point

I think you'll still be able to order a 211 but poss in GT4 spec only - it's an SVA'd car so a bit different. It's difficult to get a definitive answer from anyone on it.

Boggy the point of the Evora is to have something great to drive while waiting for the new cars to be made, if any of them make it into production.

No new Cup 260's in the dealers as far as I know.
