Elise SC Jim Clark
Discussion
Nice car, I think I prefer them without the number spot on the door. Pretty much all cars depreciate, no matter what. A long time ago I just decided that seeing that they're all a waste of money, I'd just decide how much I wanted to waste, then get on with enjoying myself. The total currently runs at a lot of smiles and a flat deposit
Excellent choice matey - enjoy it.
I've owned an Elise SC (in gorgeous Canyon Red) for just over two years and I reckon it is THE best Elise ever (and I've also owned an Elise R and Exige S :-)) ).

I owned an Elise 111R liked it a lot, bought a Noble M12 GTO 3 and I love it.
Sold the Elise 111R and bought the Elise SC, only had a test drive. Waiting for March to arrive before I put it on the road.
I think it takes a while and several drives to get used to a different car.

tell me more... Why? I sold my elise135R to get a nob 3R seems like quite a large backstep?
ended up with a house and a baby instead dammit !
IMHO it's not a backstep, my current Exige is quite unique and definetly a keeper. I loved my noble as well but for different reasons. Every noble meet I went to people said it was the cleanest they had seen and after the many I had viewed I had to agree. It's a difficult one to sum up all I can say is the Noble never felt like it could be thrown around like an Exige can to me and the way the car was designed meant salty or wet roads were a definite no for me which meant it spent a lot of time in the garage. My main concern really was that nobles are at an age now where they need to be kept on top off which was easy enough for me as my old mans an ex service manager however for such a simple car the servicing costs for a stamp were quite steep and I was concerned that not using noble dealer/specialists would affect the vehicles value. In a year of ownership I only had a couple of minor problems nothing major at all but being honest I absolutely love how Lotus cars drive and I've never felt more attached to a car than I do with Exiges! Really happy I owned the Noble and happy that I had a good one.ended up with a house and a baby instead dammit !

Small world - I have seen the pics on Flickr of your car, before I bought mine...
If we meet us on the top of the stelvio pass in september, we are enough for one Typ25 Row.

That pictures were from the previous owner, I purchased the car from him half an year ago.If we meet us on the top of the stelvio pass in september, we are enough for one Typ25 Row.

I'm very pleased with my purchase!
Don't know if I'll be on the Stelvio in September, will decide at the moment.
One question for you: do you like the suspension setup? I hate it, too-much 'stiff' for road use, need to try something different.

I have no problem with the setup (had the same on my previous SC), but I will change the A048 with AD08 Yokos.
I don´t like beeing surprised from rain in the alps with semi-slicks on my car.
The problem is, that you can get the AD08 just in the size Front 205 Rear 235 - so I am not sure, if that will ruin the steering-feeling.

I've actually fitted the KUMHO KU31, which are sport-tyres but more road oriented. They run very well in all contitions, including heavy-rain, and are quite cheap, I would recommend them for road driving (they're available on standard sizes 195+225). The A048 were excellent performing on dry and warm tarmac but very poor in cold and wet conditions, not safe in my opinion.
So you don't feel the shocks from the Sport-Pack to be too-much hard? On good-quality streets they're ok but I often drive on rough mountain roads and it's a pain with them, the car bumps with the wheels loosing contact with the asphalt...not funny at all.

For suspension setup you should go to Steve Guglielmi. OK, not so easy if you don't live in the UK, but he will transform the handling of your Lotus. Website details below:
