The lambo is way better, the R8 is fantastic and like you say a sorted version of the gallardo but I would much prefer the gallardo over an R8 any day, that is of course running costs for both were the same, factoring in that I would go R8

I drove along side a black gallardo around electric picnic time, posted it on octane and apparently the word was is was selling for well under 100k, heard nothing more on the matter,

Either would do but in manual version only as you could fire a clutch in one yourself unlike the paddle shift e-gear type were you have to set the clutch up with a computer to relearn gears and bitting points .

When I sold the Ferrari with the F1 gear change it had only 14,000 miles on it and it needed a clutch !

It's driving around towns starting and stoping all the time that wears the feck outta the clutch and reversing is even worse .

The R8 would be a better choice but are the v8 versions available here worth the 40 or 50k premium over an e92 m3? Looks wise maybe but overall I'd say definitely not. For that premium you would expect something with the performance of 911T, R8 V10 or GTR

Not yet my car territory financially, but right now there aren't many options out there better than a GT-R. In the US maybe a Shelby GT500 could be a serious alternative.

I totally agree with above , but you have to move to something after the R35 it would be a shame if you had to drive one for ever ! smile

For such a short clutch life does it just go pop or do you notice?

I'll stick with the M3,

In the 360 f1 when you were driving around town starting and stopping for a while , if you give her a bit of a blast at all she would select neutral instead of going into the next gear and make a (unt out of you as she'd just rev up and go nowhere until you flick the pedal again and see would select the next gear .
Only thing was you never quite knew when or if see was going to do it frown

There are three R8's for sale on carzone. Two 2008 models and one 2007 model.

They are way overpriced.

In the pistonheads classifieds here 997 Turbos are making similar prices as R8's. An 07 997 Turbo was for sale here in Dublin months ago on carzone through a dealer asking €69K and you can be sure it went for much less.

There is also a new revised R8 due next year? So that should push prices down further.

Talking about R8, I spotted one being driven by a very young driver in the city center 2 days ago (08-D plates). Really nice car!

Is the R8 that much cheaper to run? I'd assumed that they would be the same.

An 07 has just come for sale.

Manual and Daytona Grey. smile

Still a bit to go before they hit around €50K though. frown

Do you think R8 prices will continue to stay strong? A 997S of the same year can bought for nearly half the asking price of this 07 R8.
