Well, it's always a consideration. I just want to get a feel for the relative merits & characteristics of each package...

Considered the alternatives? FFF2 VVT Head with Syvecs?

Yes, I have considered it. I came to the conclusion that I must be something of a purist as I want to keep the finger followers. The 5 year warranty came in to it, too. Not sure about Syvecs, though.

A few years ago I would have gone the LS route just because of reliability and torque issues even though I would have hated ripping out the TVR Speed Six.

But today if my engine went pop there is only one engine I would replace it with

a 4.5 TVR Power engine that now has reliability and a 5 year warranty and loads more torque and now is race proven with 2 wins in the GT Cup where it's quicker than the V8 F430GTC, V8 M3GTR and 997 GT3 Cups.

Mine is at Tvr Power now and having the 4.5 Supersport, for me it was the only option, race proven. For anyone who hasn't been to Tvr Power, go have a look and see what they do there, plus the 5 year warranty takes some beating.

That's quite compelling...

If you go for a 4.3 you will later wish you had gone for a 4.5, If you decide on syvecs I would wait until the car has been run in or you will end up with the problems I have at the moment with the base map.

How many 4.3 and 4.5 are made from Dom up to now ?
My car is in Doms garage now, one follower has gone, and i am also thinking about
a 4.3 or 4.5!
But its a hell of money for a 4.5 and the guarantee is same also for 4.3!
So maybe i go for a 4.3 ! Or not? or a rebuilt?!

Have to say racing pedigree is the best indicator for me, and if you want the best, go for the 4.5.

FFF not tested enough, certainly not winning races now is it?!

And you have the reassurance Dom will help you out whatever, he's just like that thumbup

Dean...well done on blowing your gasket...bit extreme to have an excuse to fit a 4.5 tho hehe

Did Dom hint that the 5.0litre is ready earlier or did I read too much between the lines?

hehe........ Thanks mate, as soon as Dom mentioned a while ago that he was planning a 4.5 I knew that it was the right engine for my Sag, I have been watching Danny racing the 4.5 in his Sag and well what can I say......... I just had to have it hehe

I think he said the 5.0 wouldn't become a TVR Power offering - he was doing it to find the limits of the engine iirc.

Well yeah but wasnt that the same as was said about the 4.5?!

If it works, reliably, and there is demand for the price...why on earth wouldnt you sell it to the public ?! wink

I guess there is going to be a limit at which the chassis / other components cant handle the power, i mean even with a 'measly' 4.5 they are already one of the most potent machines on the road, anywhere!!

I believe Dom did say he wouldn't put it in to production but then if he does put thousands of miles in testing it, i too would be surprised if it didn't go in to production.

I think Dom wants to concentrate his efforts in to turbo charging the S6 though.

Well, I'm convinced. 4.5 it is. Any idea how much torque & how many ponies I should expect from a de-catted 4.5 with ACT Airbox (incl trumpets)?
