Speed Six Rebuild: Power 4.3 or 4.5?

I have always thought that the S6 was designed to rev to and beyond 8k. A properly balanced engine should be able to do this, shouldn't it, irrespective of the CC?
nope as your and my 4.3 are not able to do so problem is construction of the stroker and piston speed.gacksen said:
what´s the max rev with that one ? 4.3 is down on revs a lot compared to the 3.6.
if i would have to pay for an upgrade would go for a high rev 3.7 instead.
should get you the same numbers but possible to take it up to 8000 or higher instead
of reducing revs due to bigger bore
You should buy some Jap crap and rev the bks of it : ) if i would have to pay for an upgrade would go for a high rev 3.7 instead.

I think there's a cultural problem.....Germans lack design flare(only square no curves) , good engineers but no imagination and of course they are always correct
Over 80 million germans and you know all of them, WOW ! ;-) Edited by twinreal on Monday 25th August 07:07

He was completely relaxed and knows how I drive/treat the car and the kudos I'm after. Basically he said in the 4.3SS no 4.2 or 4.5AJP will outrun me so then it that keeps them quiet. The only ones I gotta worry about are 4.3/5s and LSs (the LS doesn't have the reliability or smoothness so then it's like for like Cerbs or the 4.5SS.
Really?Lol
My main point being had I wanted a V8 I would have got the 4.2 or 4.5 AJP initially. Then if the LS was better then so be it but in my mind why would I buy a SS to then convert it to a V8?
With that said a bigger or more mad of what I have... Well I'm happy to entertain that. (Better logic I feel). Back to thread title 4.3 or 4.5 SS

Martin, just ring dom and tell him you need the 5 litre!!! :-)
I am afraid you are absolutely right.
Has to be a 5 litre.
I seem to have a soft spot for 5 litres anyway.
But not as bad as Caros soft spot for 4 litres.
Certainly she must be extremely worried if there are even not 4 litres of milk in the fridge.

Sorry guys for dragging the thread off topic, im not suggesting the 5 litre is the best engine, i still think the 4.3 is the way to go, its just griffithy has a thing for 5 litre engines and Martin you know caro only worries about how much gin is in the fridge....
