As stated in the other thread lets keep all comments in here. Car is off to Surrey rolling road today for Ryan to investigate more.

What suggestions have been made so far as to why half the cylinders could be pinking? I guess an issue with the sensors or readings would be one of them?

It would be unfair to comment at this stage. As soon as I have answers I'll post them.

Is syvecs suitable for a 4.5 Speed 6?
As a fully programmable ecu system, can anyone theorise a reason why this would not be the case? Not being an expert in such things, can anyone tell me a reason why any particular ecu system would not be suitable for any particular engine (assuming it has been designed for that basic configuration- V8, V12 etc)?

Not being an expert in such things, can anyone tell me a reason why any particular ecu system would not be suitable for any particular engine (assuming it has been designed for that basic configuration- V8, V12 etc)? I think that this question is mostly focussing around the knock sensors and whether they can work as well as they can with all the noise from the finger followers. There was a thread on this originally but someone had it pulled. But at the time the Syvecs people were of the view that the noise generated by the finger followers was at a different frequency than that caused by pinking so wasn't an issue. They set it up on a very old and clattering standard 4.0 and improved the power output and driveability immensely as they could optimise the ignition advance and rely on the sensors to pick up and handle any knocking. So, in essence we have seen it work brilliantly on a standard 4.0 S6 to the point that it is an extremely viable option for getting more power as it does so while protecting the engine not adding more risk. But, it has recently been fitted to a 4.5 SS and the first run highlighted pinking in 3 of the 6 cylinders so they had to dial in several degrees of retardation. The question now is whether there is a fault with the sensors, fault with the engine build or possibly that the bored and stroked engine produces different harmonics that do interfer with the sensors. Hopefully, over the coming weeks this thread can be another interesting learning curve for the S6 community.

My mapping session compared to a 4.5 T350 (mines the blue line) Here's a 4.3 mapping session. just hope this is a coincidence!

Those look like good at the wheel numbers.
Is the difference between the two 4.5s the fact that your timing is currently being retarded?
How did the SRR session go?

Is Power also involved out of interest? I'd imagine with the warranty etc, Dom would want to stay abreast of the situation.

I guess that answers that question - sorry to hear that. Especially after a full-house rebuild went into his back-pocket.
(Sorry if that offends).

You have to look at from Dom's point of view, syvecs is in direct competitions with his new MBE with knock, it's not his interest to see syvecs work, in fact if it fails it's better for him so there's no need for him to go the extra mile which he would if it was his product.

You're the one who has just spent £10k +, I would expect the mechanic to be looking at it your way, not his. I would say though, that if you are being treated like that at this point I would whip out the Syvecs and take him up on the offer to install and map the MBE for free so at least you then have peace of mind that the cars is able to make the numbers guaranteed by the builder. You have to assume that if you have any problems reaching those numbers without this you'll not get very far.

Either way SRR has Dyno'd a few 4.5's with MBE's fitted and mapped so going to get this car on SRR on tuesday to see if any marketing tricks have been done. I hope not as my time is not exactly easy to get back. Ryan

Something to note is Dom still gives his warranty on his rebuilds with syvecs fitted. He doesn't have to. He could monopolize his rebuilds with his own ECU but respects Ryan and his product to still allow this not to infringe his warranty. I have every confidence in both parties products, Power as an engine builder are well established with great results, Syvecs also as engine tuners, their products are well received and have had great results too outside of TVR too. Unfortunately this is the first time the two have been put together. I'm the experimental piggy in middle! It's already cost me over £1K to be the first to merger these products so if it all works out which I'm sure it will, anyone else who goes this route can buy me a beer

Ah, fair play to Dom on the warranty stuff then.
