We have a switch on the dash of the noble and 'push to pass' buttons on the steering wheel to switch between low boost and high boost, things still get hot and melt/crack on low boost though and even on standard cars with 300bhp, its not just the coolant tempratures that will be a problem, im using turbo blankets, nimbus heat shield everywhere and fully wrapped exhausts and still have heat soak issues with the intercooler and electrics inc fuses and relays melting.

Best of luck to them but in the space available (in a fibreglass heat bath like these cars) they will have problems, fancy fans and coolant isnt even scratching the surface of sorting heat issues, there isnt even an effective place to mount an intercooler in the TVR.

I had very intensive discussions to increase the capacity of the supercharged engine to 4.2 (bigger bore), 4.3 (stroked) and 4.7 (both), and am under the impression that RG has been doing some testing with those configs sometime last year, before they called me and told me they don't get the gains they expected (they ended up somewhere around 530hp IIRC, with the 4 liter SC, I had 483hp). Remember that I set out from the start to go for 600bhp. So that's where the turbo setup came in...

RG is very aware that they need to sort everything meticulously with regards to the heat issues, as I've been VERY clear that I don't want the car to be toasted or even have the slightest damage (i.e. bonnet melting due to heat from the exhaust manifold) as consequence of heat.

Sometime next week the camshafts should arrive, and then the final engine/intake manifold build stages should start. Timewise, the whole build process should be finished around September (running in and tuning included), if there aren't any other setbacks occuring...

Have you done or thought about upgrading the clutch/gearbox to handle the extra beef?

They've created a high torque clutch and gearbox set up which is currently in my car but specced originally for the SC option.

I'm also running the extra heat shielding that they specified at the same time.

They have spoken to people like ProDrive and others to learn how modern materials are used to solve age old issues. There does seem to be some smart stuff going on with ancillaries and I think it's primarily driven by Pascal's demands.

The only thing still "standard" on my setup are the shims. Anything else has been upgraded to a higher spec.

The gearbox has been taken to Quaife and has been reinforced to cope with 800-ish hp. Clutch is upgraded to a triple plate clutch (but the name of the manufacturer seems to have escaped my grey matter), differential is made by Quaife as well, suspension, suspension triangles and driveshafts have all been looked after properly and updated where needed.

Think the only thing I'll need to seriously consider still doing, is putting on bigger brakes kit as the AP ones may be a little on the small side with the extra power.

An alternative to the over-priced AP discs will be more than welcome Pascal, so if you could focus on that we'd all be grateful.... large, and grooved would be better than the eye-pleasing drilled by the way.. biggrin

I doubt that. My mechanic noticed that the shims in the FFF head ar different from standard. Seem to be the speed12 ones.

Back to the car - the engine is coming more and more into its own. It's a perfect engine for the floor-hinged pedal IMHO. IF you want to go mad, put the foot down, keep it there and it goes nuts! If you want to pootle around, then it will do that too.

(Oh, is that a set of 888's in the garage? I think it is!)

Now, suspension....

Well they are just down the road from me... Racing Green are looking at a company called AST, and judging by what they have done so far with other companies....

Then there is the Nitron route - tried, tested and can even keep Pauls Sag on the black stuff. It's a difficult choice.

Don, best answer I can give you is to do a search. I referenced it back in the day when I was pissing about with TVRs. Quickie ended up using that particular Sagaris as his daily motor, along with the composite brakes it was also rose jointed all round. They were items on the factory development list.
