This keeps getting better and better....

Filled up with V-Power yesterday, after 145 miles. £41 was the bill. 149.9 was the pump price, so in went 27 litres (all these figures are roughly rounded up or down and I know maths isn't my strong suit).

27 litres is 5.9 gallons. This is 24.5 mpg, with trips to the shops, rush-hour motorway traffic, a few blasts and just general driving.

That's insane! Happy, happy, happy. smile

Lee, that was normal map, with one tunnel run.... Paul, I'm guessing it's the low weight/massive power that means it can just run on tickover!

Eh? I've never been to Brighton Speed Trials Dom.

Try to get your facts right for once... or is this more 'banter'?

When? Dean - any ideas? The only time we've been close with our cars was The Supercar Event - any other time we've missed each other.

Dom, I'm all for you coming back on to these forums, you have been missed - but seriously.

Either get your facts right, or stop drinking. smile

No, drove it so hard I broke it! biggrin (100A fuse).

It was also Dean (who as a better driver than me), showed me a much better way through the last corner (I was trying to carry far too much entry speed), and how great R888 tyres are (my 4 year and 5 trackday old rubber was...errr..... the second weakest link in the chain - without a shadow of doubt I was/am the weakest link!).

Final excuse was it hadn't been remapped, and that was 500-700 miles of the running in process.... Not bad for a freshly rebuilt engine, no?

Dean and I were on track together once, and on launch and low down, he got a few yards, on the top end I more than pulled them back. The reason he went round faster than me is that he is a better driver, and I'm not afraid to say that. As for launch, have a look here... Dean goes at 22 sec, I go around 30. A few cars in between us. The Supercar Event

So then chap - now you know the facts, what were you chirping on about Brighton? ears

Oh, by the way Dom, pop at me all you want. Just don't strop off like last time and send a blank email and expect sympathy when you get it back.

But by all means banter you can actually be funny.... sometimes! biggrin

But just like you don't like people saying anything negative about you and your company, how about we do the same for others?

On the modified speed six thread it would be really good to see what you have done with your 5.0 - it sounds amazing, and I love the fact that you have done it. Pushing the boundaries - it's the only way that we can keep the brand we love alive. I do say at the top it's not a willy waving competition, and I can only reiterate that - I think I will actually be happier with someone else taking the mantle away from me of having the most powerful S6. Seriously - I didn't do it to get that, and I don't really want it. Maybe if Pascals can get finished, or you wind up your monster 5.0... smile

How about it then? hippy

Turbo never happened. The owner and RG had a falling out. As far as I'm aware, the only forced induction speed six is the Str8-Six supercharged car. I did notice last year that they are offering that as a potential conversion....

The engine is still amazing, but it could be improved. Variable Cam Timing would help get over the 3k 'hump'. I'd love more displacement and better pistons (the car is still untouched on the bottom end - 22k miles and 11 years), but I'm waiting on that one.

I'm looking at building a forged bottom end, pistons and rods with crankshaft polished and balanced, with oil mods etc. Then with a FFF2 head and simplex/syvecs etc it could be revved. I love high revving engines, had a bike engines kit car that was so much fun to drive as a result of the power delivery. Might even get close to the 9 on he TVR rev counter!
That sounds really, really interesting. Almost exactly what I would be after....

Willfin said:
What is the 3k hump?
Sorry, poor choice of words. When the engine 'comes on to cam' , it is really, really noticeable. Sub 3k it's lazy, above, it's like vtec kicked in, yo.

Willfin said:
How might a forged bottom end help with getting the most out of the full package?
It is a question I have been exploring. A slight bore increase to ensure piston fits are perfect with newer, lighter, stronger better designed pistons, better bracing... I wouldn't want a massive capacity increase, but Doms work with the 4.3 as a very strong engine does make me think....

Just a strong, smooth engine pushing out 500bhp. Then I'd be happy.

Alex - no idea. I haven't chatted to them about that side for a while now...

Will - happy to show you around it any time. I'm Herts based, but should be getting myself to a few bits of the UK in it this year. It is an astonishing engine.

DA - Love to.

Willfin - I believe I am on the right side of the naming and shaming rules by saying RND have a chequered past. There are multiple threads on here, but they have finally supplied an engine to BlackSix in the USA and Gaksen uses their cams for his monster engine, which has passed mine by a healthy margin in the bhp stakes.

Have a look in the Wikis in this section for the Modified Speed Six Wiki V2.
