You should have seen the look on their faces when I came in with the graph. hehe
Might not have been the graph if you were wearing those shoes. wink

I bet they were over the moon as they were stumped as to why ours were much lower than the demo. But they did mention that they thought each engine was going to need its own map.

Do you know what cam timing you have? I believe on paper it should be low 100s but they are having to advance quite a bit further to get the sweet spot. They were going to build another engine and then test it with different inlet and manifold lengths to find the optimum set up.

Joolz - thank you, and yes, you are 100% right (IMHO). It's a shame TVR couldn't see this.

'Those' shoes? I was in grey and yellow ones today! biggrin (matches my skin tone and teeth....)

They did say the major difference is the airbox and exhaust (minus cats). I'm afraid I don't know about the rest of it - but it'll be wonderful to see them actually build a bench engine and get it to the proper power. (Because this isn't enough..... YEAH, RIGHT! biggrin )

I do have to say I love the linear way this engine drives - the more you put your foot down, the more it gives. It may sound really stupid (from me???), but it really makes a difference in this kind of car. The right foot is very controllable, but the Syvecs TC makes a massive difference in the wet.

If you want a V8 this isn't a good engine. If you want a straight six then it's mind blowingly good.

Wheeler wanted the classic English and refined nature of a straight 6 in his cars and thanks to a bit of help from others I think that TVR have something iconic.

Over the years I've driven straight 6s from Aston, Jag and BMW. Standard ones and ones reworked to get the best power they can. I've always lived the style of the engine but the FFF engine really is right at the top. That level of bhp/litre while still being so smooth and tractable, well, from such a small company to start with and developed by a small Indy using the most modern techniques available it really is one hell of an achievement.

Cerb S6 owners can now give the hairy AJP lads a slap with a wet fish. smile

Congratulations, fantastic numbers, lovely torque curve, well done for sticking with it...

Thats a heck of a lot of money but it does sound like you have not just a powerful engine but a modern feeling, smooth, reliable engine.

What would you pay for a modern equivalent with that kind of output? Installed and running? Probably a great deal more i would guess?

It's a good question.... Let's put it this way. £10k plus(ish) will get you the cheapest LS3 installed for you by a third party. Other companies you'd see a bill comparable to this, if not more. (Obviously for the LS7 etc you will see much larger bills).

You pays your money.... smile

I went this way with the Racing Green S6 FFF because I viewed it (correctly or not), as the ultimate representation of the S6 that TVR should have put out - the same with my body modifications. I wanted it "TVR, but ultimate TVR". I will say that this is a purely personal view, and I know a lot of people wouldn't agree with me about this. To that I say I'll agree why you disagree with me, but you pays your money.... wink

Let's just say that I am a very happy man, and I * still * go out to the garage and check it's there, to convince myself it's mine. The power figures are icing to the cake really. smile I just am glad that RG (and the other companies) are putting their money and their products out there. I really wish them all well, as they are keeping the brand alive, along with us nutters enthusiasts.

I couldn't see the chart yesterday on my phone. That seems to be a pretty wide and smooth torque curve?

Congratulations on this result Don!
Good to finally have some proof of the FFF2 capabilities. Great development of Racing Green.

Great results, it's a massive leap compared to the other FFF's. Hope future conversions produce the same for their owners.

I'm not sure it's a 'massive' leap per se wink, the Tuscan demo was run at 440 and mine is running 411 but with the air feed from the original SC set up which we know is starving the engine of air.

I think all the FFF2 to date that have been built are hitting either around 410 or above on SRR with the lower readings believed to be a result of airflow in or out.

What does an FFF2 on it's own cost then?

It's a fair chunk of the total cost, but then you start adding in the extras that make it such an attractive package. I believe I'm the only one publishing figures, so look at the whole job of being £12-15k. I do have the exact figures, but obviously there are differences with people, jobs done and the like.

Cheers Paul - it'll take a while to get close to yours! biggrin

I notice RND Engineering do a lovely looking new piston that increases volume to 4.1 litres, plus the block can take boring out to 4.2 (Power 4.5SS engine with Top Hat liners)... THAT would be a lovely combination... FFF2 head, and still all that revviness with the original stroke, and 4.3 litres..... I wonder what kind of numbers that would produce.....
That "was" my original plan when mine went pop, albeit without the FFF in order to keep costs down. Keep the rev happy nature of the original, but make the top end even more ridiculous!
The only downside that I could find was the lack of overall warranty on such a hybrid. I had to stretch financially to go down the 4.3 route, but the 5yr warranty and the fact that the package has been in use/proven for a long while was the only reason I was swayed frown

I'm around 800miles into the post running in period now, and have to say that the engine itself is a total peach, however there is a small part of me that currently feels it's lost a bit of the old character as it's now more linear in the delivery. It hasn't lost it's reviness at all, just that you're already going much quicker when you get to 6k rpm so no need to rev the nuts off it!!

Don.... fantastic result!! and the car looked awesome at Poole. Once mine's back from str8six, i'll give you a shout as i'd definitely like to meet up to see how it compares to the 4.3, and take some decent photos of that paintwork if you'd be up for meeting? smile

Very impressive Don. Just shows the potential with nat-asp S6, without losing the rev-happy nature. Mega torque, too. It gives Pascal something to chase, once he's got essential heat management sorted out.....

Not a problem at all smile

And once again, thanks everyone. It really is something... now, about those tyres and the suspension... wink
