I'm so glad you've posted what you have. Mine goes in for its 1k running in service on the 31st of this month. I'm currently running max half throttle and up to 5000 rpm and the difference is already noticeable but it's like theres something underneath held on a leash, chomping at the bit to be let go but I know I can't just yet. I can't wait to get the 1k over and done with so I can see just how quick she really is....
Hey Zippee, did you get your 1k service done yesterday?.......how awesome is it?

Done mate, thanks.
Interesting time..... looks like you had trouble getting the power down... but your top speed at the end is way above those in the same time bracket, so it must really pick up !!! Apparently, one of the tricks is low rear tyre pressures (under 20psi) for that kind of thing to get the early grip...

Compared to the standard engine the difference in getting the power down was massive. I will try low tyre pressure next time, or sticky ones! Yes it really really picks up pace. There was about 20-30 of us there that day and I got a higher top speed than everything apart from a couple of gtrs . Interestingly my mate with a 4.5 sag couldnt look at my time or top speed.
Here is a link to some pics and video of the day.

Hiya Sid - In a word, Very! You don't notice the acceleration so much, 0-60 I doubt has changed much and it has about the same kick in the back the standard 3.6 had BUT what's noticeable is how much lower down the rev range you have that power. For example, 3rd gear, pootling along and slowing in traffic down to just over 1000 rpm. Hit the throttle and she'll pull strongly from the off, it's the low down torque where you really feel it. That said, as a driver you get to a point where you stop feeling acceleration as you tend to be braced and ready for it anyway - I reckon a regular passenger in a 3.6 would feel the difference way more than me (I hope that makes sense anyhow smile)
I have absolutely zero regrets over the conversion and I can feel it loosening up as every mile goes on, it's the S6 thats required IMHO for anyone coming over from a torquey V8 as it'll stop them moaning about lack of torque.

Hi Zippee, Glad you are happy with the new engine smile I agree with what you say apart from the acceleration. I think it's much quicker than before. Not nessesaraly that much 0-60 but 100 seems to arrive much more quickly and the overtaking acceleration is blistering. I have done another 1k miles now and it gets smoother and smoother. A friend f mine with an R8 has offered a drag race...I am pretty confident smile

Speaking with a drag racing buddy of mine he said that seriously lowering the pressure of road tyres for more grip off the line is a bit of a waste of time. This is because the sidewalls aren't designed to wind up and crease like they do with proper drag radials, so the only thing you're risking is spinning your rims inside the tyres and knackering the bead.

The best results come from ensuring proper weight transfer onto the back axle so that you get a proper squat at take off. If you have adjustable suspension, wind the front ride hide up and drop the rear for a nose up stance. Also if you can, soften the rear dampers a good few notches.

I know it's a bit more involved than just lowering the tyre pressures, but if you've gone to the effort of going to a drag day you should prepare the car and suspension accordingly, as you would for any track day. smile
