Did you install the USB Adapter properly ? First have a look into the Device Manager to be sure there are no yellow marks beside it.
If all is correct and the Adapter has got a proper COM-Name, you can try to type it into the proper Field in the MBETool manually.

Thanks Olli, I will try that and see how I get on.....for now, extreme heat 42c in the shade has hold up further play.

For those that use this great bit of software (thanks Oliver, loving the mobile unit!) regularly could you give me some guidance on a couple of things?

1) What should the throttle %'s read at full depression of the pedal? I know 100% would be logical but it is never that straight forward with a TVR!

2) When would you need to and when is the best time to reset the adaptive maps and throttle pots? Would if be worth resetting the adaptive maps if doing a long trip on the mway as may be more economical?

Thanks for any help smile

You need the secret button sequence to `activate` the last 6%... biggrin

Yes that would be like KIT2000 'turbo boost', shame you need a spanner and to get in to the foot well to 'activate' it!

Or I can make you a special version of the software which will show 100%, if that's enough :-)

Are you planning on doing any further updates to the software? Although I think it is spot on now as it is now. Love having it plumbed in and having more information at my finger tips!

Just a big thank to EvoOlli for this software!
I used it yesterday, it worked at first attempt (which is not usually the case for diagnostic tools, TVR or others!)

EvoOlli,

Another thanks for the software. Very straight forward to use.

Unfortunately, I think it shows my car needs a bloodly good tune at the very least, maybe more!

I'm using it on a windows based laptop, does it also work on android devices? I'm thinking of buying a cheap tablet to load the software onto.

Youtube video of my results!

Start with a reset of the adaptive maps and have a look at the adaptives on the next miles. If they stay around -10 to 10 it's fine. If they go up to over 30% like in your video there's a problem with the fuelling. The ECU thinks that your fuelling is too lean and tries to enrich.

There's an Android software from Aide, which is different to my software. You should find it in the Cerbera forum.

An alternative is the mobile Unit I've made:

Hi Oli,

Is the link in the first post the most up to date version? I've finally got a windows laptop so going to try getting this one working again.

I do have a mac, but am not technical enough to work out how to run windows on it!

Thanks for the help Olli. Apologies for asking but do you still make them for people & how much? I appreciate it may be more trouble than it's worth.

@MrChips: Yes, it's the most recent version. I wanted to implement reading the adaptive maps, but until now I couldn't decipher the protocol of the ECU for doing this. BTW, I have to say I didn't spend to much time in the last year for doing this :-)

@Ian: Yes, every so often I do a batch of some units, drop me a mail and I will give you the information.
Currently I'm working on the next few units.

Hi Ian,

I have some units ready now, but can't contact you through PN. Could you contact me so I can give you some details ?

Hi Olli,

Another newbie here, with questions and issues.

I downloaded the old diagnostics software and got the right cable (with serial to usb) several years ago, but never got around to use them. Partly because the car has been behaving, and partly because I was never able to locate the bloody 3-pin connector... Then I scrapped the XP laptop and got myself another one, with 8.1 64-bit, so the old software wouldn't have worked anyway.

I was ecstatic when I discovered your software as the car's developed gremlins. It's a 2003 Tuscan S, by the way. So, today I spent an hour playing contortionist and managed in the end to find the connector. I assume it's the right one, as it's the only non-connected 3-pin female under the steering column.

Hooked up the cable, started up your software, found COM3, started the engine, and...nothing. It says "Serial Port COM3 opened. Searching for MBE ECU." and that's it. Of course, as I assumed that I have connection, I never tried the other USB ports while in the car... Trying it now, at home, your software finds all the other com ports available – 5, 6 and 7. Is one of these preferable or is the port irrelevant? Or have I found the wrong connector? I'm assuming that the car does have the MBE ECU and not something else.

Any help appreciated!

Hi Nenad,

you should look in the Windows Device Manager which (Virtual) Comport your USB Adapter is assigned. Then you need to select this COMxx in my software.
Every USB/Serial Adapter will get a new (Virtual) Comport, some adapters even get a different Comport when plugged in in a different USB Port on the same computer ;-)

Cheers

Oliver

I don't suppose you've developed similar software for MBE as fitted to RV8 powered cars.
Thanks
