New Diagnostic Software for MBE ECU
Discussion
For those that use this great bit of software (thanks Oliver, loving the mobile unit!) regularly could you give me some guidance on a couple of things?
1) What should the throttle %'s read at full depression of the pedal? I know 100% would be logical but it is never that straight forward with a TVR!
2) When would you need to and when is the best time to reset the adaptive maps and throttle pots? Would if be worth resetting the adaptive maps if doing a long trip on the mway as may be more economical?
Thanks for any help

EvoOlli,
Another thanks for the software. Very straight forward to use.
Unfortunately, I think it shows my car needs a bloodly good tune at the very least, maybe more!
I'm using it on a windows based laptop, does it also work on android devices? I'm thinking of buying a cheap tablet to load the software onto.
Youtube video of my results!

Start with a reset of the adaptive maps and have a look at the adaptives on the next miles. If they stay around -10 to 10 it's fine. If they go up to over 30% like in your video there's a problem with the fuelling. The ECU thinks that your fuelling is too lean and tries to enrich.
There's an Android software from Aide, which is different to my software. You should find it in the Cerbera forum.
An alternative is the mobile Unit I've made:

Thanks for the help Olli. Apologies for asking but do you still make them for people & how much? I appreciate it may be more trouble than it's worth. There's an Android software from Aide, which is different to my software. You should find it in the Cerbera forum.

@MrChips: Yes, it's the most recent version. I wanted to implement reading the adaptive maps, but until now I couldn't decipher the protocol of the ECU for doing this. BTW, I have to say I didn't spend to much time in the last year for doing this :-)
@Ian: Yes, every so often I do a batch of some units, drop me a mail and I will give you the information.
Currently I'm working on the next few units.

I'll see if I can get it working. I'd also be interested in one of the mobile units so i'll send you a pm.

Hi Ian,I have some units ready now, but can't contact you through PN. Could you contact me so I can give you some details ?
Hi Olli,
Another newbie here, with questions and issues.
I downloaded the old diagnostics software and got the right cable (with serial to usb) several years ago, but never got around to use them. Partly because the car has been behaving, and partly because I was never able to locate the bloody 3-pin connector... Then I scrapped the XP laptop and got myself another one, with 8.1 64-bit, so the old software wouldn't have worked anyway.
I was ecstatic when I discovered your software as the car's developed gremlins. It's a 2003 Tuscan S, by the way. So, today I spent an hour playing contortionist and managed in the end to find the connector. I assume it's the right one, as it's the only non-connected 3-pin female under the steering column.
Hooked up the cable, started up your software, found COM3, started the engine, and...nothing. It says "Serial Port COM3 opened. Searching for MBE ECU." and that's it. Of course, as I assumed that I have connection, I never tried the other USB ports while in the car... Trying it now, at home, your software finds all the other com ports available – 5, 6 and 7. Is one of these preferable or is the port irrelevant? Or have I found the wrong connector? I'm assuming that the car does have the MBE ECU and not something else.
Any help appreciated!

Hi Nenad,
you should look in the Windows Device Manager which (Virtual) Comport your USB Adapter is assigned. Then you need to select this COMxx in my software.
Every USB/Serial Adapter will get a new (Virtual) Comport, some adapters even get a different Comport when plugged in in a different USB Port on the same computer ;-)
Cheers
Oliver
