Great to see a different approach being done on the S6. It will sound superb on webers too ! I'll look forward to seeing the updates on this one. Good luck.
My engine is now in queue for the Dyno at Devon Racing. Stay tuned.
I can smell something.....

Come on chaps give BlackSix some encouragement!
Just from reading these threads I know a few have had bad experiences with this company, however BSix has had a lot of courage to put his faith in a company on the other side of the pond. If it was me the last thing I'd want to be tuning in and reading is a load of negativity right now when waiting to finish what sounds like a passionate project.

Thank you for the kind words, S6Boy. PLUS, we do have an actual sighting of a "Gold Head" Speed Six at DEVON, thanks to Donski's powers of observation. (Thank you, Donski). I don't think there are many S6's with a gold head (and black block). As you may know, this is the typical color scheme for a Jaguar E-type XK6 engine. Obviously, something is happening with my engine. True, RND may have been slower than Christmas on this project, but frankly it has not made any difference to me, since the E-type shell is still under construction here in the States. I must confess, however that I will breath a bit easier when I have a video of the DYNO run at DEVON (with the Webers mounted). Stay tuned.

I for one am really pleased to hear that after paying up front for your engine you do actually seem to have something for your money .. I suspect there's a large collective sigh of relief going around the PH massive right now ..
Hope all is well after the dyno runs .. have they given you a predicted bhp number?

Any bhp prognostications would simply be that - a guess. Since (to my knowledge and anyone else I have discussed this with) there has never been a Weber carbureted S6 built, we will just have to wait and see. Plus, I am just as interested in torque as the bhp number, as this is strictly a street car and I am not one who does excessive flogging of my toys. I just like to sling them around curves at 10/10th's. Hence my obsession with weight and the tire patch.

That being said, I would expect something in the 380 bhp range. (A finely tuned racing XK6 with 4.2L displacement can do that, and it suffers from horrific flame propagation due to the combustion chamber design, PLUS it is only a 2 valve head.)
The real reason for selecting the S6 engine is the weight. Having said that, I will also be building a XK6 powered iteration of the E-type which will indeed be tuned to 380 bhp. (To accomplish that without detonation problems I will be using a specially designed twin plug head. AND it will be at least 250 pounds heavier that the S6 equipped car. But that is another story.)

On the subject of bhp, I am amazed that I have yet to hear anyone on this forum bring up the subject of variable cam timing for the S6. With the way this engine is laid out variable came timing would work wonders. You would get a flatter torque curve plus a minimum of 20 extra bhp by virtue of more aggressive cams. And it would still retain a very user-friendly street tractability.

I am still in the queue, waiting my turn on the dyno. There is supposed to be a video so we can all see the run. It will be interesting to see a S6 running with Webers. What will the numbers be?? Stay "tuned".

Chris @ DEVON is preparing to ship the engine/transmission as is without the DYNO tuning. It is supposed to ship Friday, 6/26 - as I understand it (?) Stay tuned for further developments.

I am sure that the company will be extremely keen to prove their product especially with some of the recent issues (and these threads). So hopefully this is well built and you'll be a happy customer.

Frankly, I must say that Chris at DEVON has been very forthcoming with updates, and also has done a lot of application-specific problem solving to modify the S6 to fit in the tight confines of an E-type engine bay. I am still optimistic that my E type project will come together using this engine. If there is any blame to be placed here, it almost certainly needs to be placed at some other doorstep - not DEVON's. Stay tuned.

It has now been run, and some re-jetting has been done to the Webers. I full pull is in the offing. It should ship in the next week or so. I will keep you all advised. I am hoping to post a video of the dyno run on Youtube for all to see.
