Lambda Mod - Stray wire...

I was just giving the car a clean yesterday and I noticed this wire floating about.



I assume it should be connected to the cam cover earth crimp connector? Also is this setup what is known as the 'Lambda mod'?

Yes, but you should use a better ground point directly to the engine block.

Thanks twinreal, I have reconnected it for now and will see if I can find a better earthing point, any suggestions on where is a good point? Although I guess the thread of the bolt goes all the way through to the engine?

That's not the engine block. It's the rocker cover on top of the head. Although there should be an 'earth connection' to the block via the various connection bolts.

Try the earth points directly connected to the battery negative your about 30 cms from it.

Thanks all, I am hoping to give the engine bay a good tidy up over winter so I will look at doing that then! I see on some cars that they don't seem to have any of the lambda cabling there, can it all be moved to a more discreet location does anyone know?

Anything is possible. Just depends how involved you want to get.

Earth to the block, if you lose an earth to the block and try to start the earth path will be back through the Lambda cabling and ECU..... so earth through to the block. I think a well known TVR specialist earths in the same location your wire has come out of, although I would connect it lower down on the block itself.
