Yep I can't wait to see what Dom brings to the table with this. As long as tested and designed for everything else on the car to hold up to the new unit then count me IN!

I assume the insurance will increase, are they happy to accommodate the modification do you know?

Pricey at 12k plus VAT though, then you have all the 'incidental' costs to consider, edging towards the cost of an LS conversion... would be good to see some RR figures before putting hand in ones pocket..

500+bhp achieved by another engine builders 4.7.
That is your ballpark I would guess.
At that numbers you are well beyond what the T5 box can handle.
My view is that over 500 and you are into replacing or heavily modifying the whole drivetrain.
All just my truppenceworth.

+1 on seeing this. Powers 4.5 conversion is around the 415bhp figure so assuming it's only a cc increase and not other performance enhancing modifications it will not be any way near 500bhp. No need to worry yet. Your gearbox will still be ok!

From the website:

"Drive in, drive out full installation cost inc all parts varies from £16k to £18k depending on gearbox and other options.

All prices are plus VAT"

So, it could be well over £20k all in. I know I was quoted £24k for an LS3 installation - one and a half times the original cost of my Tam yikes

Also, I am not sure what a different (LS) engine would do to the future value, should values start to rise...

Well £18k plus VAT is £21.6k.

What more do people think would be needed over and above those listed on Sportmotive's site?

You would be able to sell your existing engine to offset the cost though...much lower service intervals and costs associated with the LS.

Why would anyone want to bdize a British car with yank tank as an engine and then be told it only cost you £95 per year to service... add your numbers up guys you know it makes sense to stick with the Tvr lumps

I look at it like this, Triumph Stag with original engine twice the price as a stag with a Rover engine, people do want originality with these cars..........Any way its your money so please do what you feel is right for you.
