Engine Rebuild - Scotland or North England

Are there any recommended companies to do a removal and complete strip/rebuild either in Scotland or North of England ?

All the well known companies are quite a distance from NE Scotland.

From the garages (in the north east) I've spoken to about it in the past for a full rebuild, most will will crate it up and ship it to powers.

I was also advised by one that it would be cheaper to get power to do the removal/install than them doing it.

I think Powers will represent good value, but from my reading of the forums, the price heads north for anything above a basic rebuild. I have personal experience of Agra Engineering in Dundee and can recommend their work. Not cheap but they have the facilities for lightening and balancing, and the skills for cylinder head work etc. What they won't do is remove / install engines, but a good local garage should manage that.

Don't think there's any reason you can't name the garages.

Hexham Horseless Caririages in Hexham have removed my engine from my T350. I'm doing the rebuild myself and will send it back to them on a crate for them to refit. Tony/Richard have a great team of technicians and have nothing but praise for their work.

This HHC removed my engine and then they crate it to str8six. Warranty is covered by HHc great service.

That is interesting, I bought the car from HHC and would be quite happy for them to undertake the work, particularly if they warrant the work.

drove mine down to powers from Glasgow, left it, 20 min ride to airport, went on holiday, came back, flew down to Birmingham, 20min taxi ride to powers, drove back up in a 4.3.
Once run in, it was down and up on the same day for the first service.

Ditto HHC. They removed the Griff 500s engine, sent it to JE Engineering, and then HHC plonked it back in.
