I thought the best gains came with longer trumpets and a reasonable compromise could be had in the middle lengths somewhere. The author wasn't keen on the longer ones as the performance dips at the very top end, but I don't think I'd worry too much about the very top end if there were broad improvements across the midrange.

Either way, it seems the reality of it is that there probably isn't room for anything other than the shortest trumpets, which gave very little improvement in those experiments. Interesting though.

Clive's airbox is just the lid so your base bit needs to be in good order.

Power's do a carbon fibre airbox. I can't remember if it has a lacquered finish or not.

Both airboxes can provide performance gains with a remap but probably unnoticeable on the road.

As for quality, they are both better than OEM.

Or you could get on to ACT for the latest version of their Carbon Performance Airbox, which now includes larger trumpets, as supplied to BTC teams.

On top of that all I can say is the service Tim offered was first class. I wasn't happy with the fit of the original iteration of this airbox, so Tim actually came out to my house. Measurements were taken, feed back discussed. It took a little longer than an off the shelf piece, but it is now 100% spot on.

That is now being sold by / through Powers. As I understand it, the only airboxes you can now buy direct from Tim is the 'limited space' one. http://www.actproducts.co.uk/product/cfab06s-speed...

And the 'replica' standard one (with or without trumpets).

Brendan at Concept Performance does one too, which a few of us have. Similar to the ACT with larger trumpets, silicon hoses a front air feed and better brackets and stainless clips etc. The front air feed comes from your front vents through into the airbox.

Thanks but Brendan seems extremely busy and hasn't returned any of my calls or emails over the past couple of months so had written that off. Also in speaking to Joolz, he has also been struggling with him. Shame as I had heard good things about this box.

I ordered one from Brendan just before Xmas and apparently it's a 6 week wait.
The one Power sells is Brendan's not ACT's according to Brendan himself

Yep. I believe Dom has a similar setup to me using Brendan's.

Brendan had an operation prior to Xmas, so maybe that's why he's been difficult to contact??

I'm calling in next week, anyone want me to pass a message on?

No. He isn't a 'guy with a Tuscan'. He owns Concept Performance a TVR specialist near a Sheffield, who as well as servicing TVR's also has a bodyshop for restoring, accident repair etc etc. He also modifies the bodywork of TVR's if required by owners e.g. Mesh venting, single bonnets for Sagaris, motorised flaps...the list goes on and manufacturers Carbon Fibre components including air boxes, Sagaris front shark fin vents, etc. He's probably more well known for his work on Alex/Tims Sagaris which has been heavily modified. Lovely guy and attention to detail fantastic. He also does a lot of work for S&D if they are overrun.

While on the subject of air boxes as part of my on going throttle body mods I have tapered out the inlet throat for owners buying an aftermarket airbox. This removes the 4mm step between the body and the edge of the silicon hose to aid airflow:

I thought I'd drop it in to the conversation (read: blatant plug!) as with more people going for the aftermarket boxes this is becoming quite a popular mod to go with it. I'm also getting asked about thinning the spindles while the bodies are apart. Every little helps as they say....

I'm loving the light stands by the way!

Hhmmm. Curious.

Either way, I've necer liked the way the factory airbox is just 'pushed' in place. Too much scope for leaks. Tempted with either the stainless one or the carbon ones. One of my airboxes is borked top and bottom the other is borked on the top. Perhaps the answer is one of each type.

Good Mod smile I have that on mine too smile

Did you taper it yourself or send off to the chap on PH to do?

Very possibly Clouseau. At the very least they're sitting on the same table!
