Around midday kickoff - if we get there for about 11ish, we could slip off for a quick half somewhere?

Charlie reckons we'll do about 4 cars / hour, so the blat home should commence about 3-4ish

OK see you there...

As for the blat home .. won't be much of one for me..I'm about 15 mins away at a snails pace from Chars gaff

Nelly1. Can you get people to list the build dates and original spec of their cars? ie Red Rose/S/3.6/4.0 etc and if it has had the engine re-build, then to what specification and when? Even to add engine mileage, when last valve clearances checked and catted or decatted would help.

The reason being we all unofficially know TVR have continuously improved the engines, so it will be interesting to see if the BHP has varied over the years. Indeed recently they changed the 405/6 bhp quote for the S/Sagaris spec engine down to 380 bhp. I believe this to be purely due to magazines/customers beginning to rolling road the engines.

For interest, my 2001 Red Rose rebuild got 339bhp and 291 ft torque in Sept 2005 on the SRR. 17000 miles since rebuild and recent valve clearances, running cats.

Will be interesting to see what it's like when I get it back from the factory with the latest Tuscan S/Sagaris spec engine. Hence why I cannot make it on Saturday!

cheers

I'll try and get as much info. as possible, but I don't think spec / dates / etc will give the whole picture.

There are a whole plethora of things that could knock back an engines performance - weak spark / dodgy plugs/leads / faulty sensor(s) / throttle pots / air leaks / compression / loose earth / poor connections / and so on.

These could apply to any engine of any spec in any car, and the fact that we'll have such a small sample size (!) means the figures won't be truly representative.

At the end of the day, it's just a bit of fun...and I don't really want this to turn into something that will just add to the SP6 debate.....Lord knows there's enough sh*t flying around already

Either do I, just think this will be a good opportunity to see if BHP outputs have varied over the years etc

Just wish I could attend with my car

cheers

Hi,

Here is the running order for the Speed six day day on Sat. Please note we have MOVED from our last location and are now on the old Chobham/Longross MOD facility. Map on the website. Do not use Satnav to find us, you will get lost!

This however has some drawbacks, we are only allowed 4 cars outside the unit at any one time, so all the others will have to go in the big carpark just outside the security barrier, its only 50 meters from the unit and you can walk in to the unit. The plan is to have the 4 cars for every hour in the estate at any one time.

Everything is covered by CCTV which is monitored by the security staff 24 hours a day, please please please don't wander off around the estate! It is still a secure site with sensitive MOD stuff going on in the testtrack, they take the security very seriously! Also, no dougnuts in the car park please unless of the jam variety.

If anyone is in the wrong time bracket please let me know and i will sort it.

It's touch & go whether my car gets there or not Neill. My starter motor that's been in all of two weeks, has just let me down.

After a few attempts it burst in to life & just about managed to fire the engine up..

I've since parked it on a hill, to try it again & nothing, so I bump started it.

I've now reversed it on to my drive facing downhill & it's turning over again.

I'm going to put the battery on charge and see how it goes.

I'll mail you my mobile over in case you need me to confirm.

I find it very hard to book anything in advance of more than a minute with this car.

I've booked a driving holiday to Italy in July & I just know I'm going to end up going in my van

Neill/Charlie,

Thanks for arranging the event today. Turned out to be a good laugh, and all the cars performed WITHOUT any problems... Its a shame a few more people did not make it... At least one satified customer anyway.

Cheers,

Darty

Interesting set of results. Here's mine :-

bhp/torque wheel 291/235, est. flywheel 350/285, miles 5100, Tuscan MkII S

I've no idea how accurate the flywheel estimate is supposed to be.
My AFR was about 12.5 until about 6000rpm, then bounced between 12 and 13
It also had a dip under 12 around 4000 rpm.

Cheers,

Andy.

Hi y'all!

Firstly....many thanks to everyone that attended today - sorry we had to turn so many away....no-one expected such a HUGE turnout!

OK - that's the sarcasm out of the way

So....to the SIX guys that did turn up....

Five SP6's, lowest 343Bhp, highest 367Bhp (take a Chris!) - all within a metaphorical gnats of each other.

It was great to see nothing blew up / seized / etc - indeed it was nice to see the cobwebs being blown out of the exhausts of certain cars

...I don't know..."never taken mine over 6500rpm!"...yeah, right...I heard how you took off down the road mate!!...

Special thanks go out to Charlie, who took time out from his salvage business to sort us out......Mate - I think you should try www.carsfoundinswamps.com for more 'bargains'

Anyhoo...here's the graph from mine.....

Obviously there's something wrong with it - not being the highest of the day.....mutter, mutter...

Oh....and huge thanks to Darty's mate in his Chim - right on the money mate!
...still think it sounded too quiet though...and there might be something wrong with your fuel pump - should it be making that whirring noise???

Also - cheers to Rev-erend - shame you forgot which car you were supposed to be in....

Interesting results there.

Darty is your engine still on it's 2002 S first build? Is it standard? Who tunes it and when was it last done? That must be the highest the SRR has seen on a Speed 6?

cheers
