Hi there

Assuming there was a 2.5k differential between the options below, what would you guys and girls prefer.

(1) bullet proof TVR 500hp Speed six
(2) 450hp iorn small block Chev
(3) 405hp lsx alloy block Chev

Not sure this is a fair representation of each option eg prices, durability etc...?

Where are the S6 engine options? The S6 is only mentioned in this one and that's fantasy!

Maybe you should have called it S6 fantasy engine time inwhich case the 32vAJP8 would probably be most people's choice. Note that plasticman has already fitted the AJP8 into a T-chassis.

This is a fair representation

OK try putting some prices to them then.

My estimate at (1) is it seems suspiciously like a TVRCraft redesigned Speed 6 with a supercharger (350na plus 150).
In this case (1) would get my vote since its characteristics suit the TVR's the best overall (most power, doing it controllably through highest revs). I still doubt such an engine would be as durable overall as the GM units, but see no reason why it shouldn't be up to AJP8 standards

It would be good to be kept as a simple poll, however based on

SP6 + strengthened T5 main shafts
SBC + tremac tko
SBC,LSX + tremac tko

Call me biased but for me it would have to be lsx derived in any capacity mainly because it's an engine still being developed/evolved so the sky's the limit whereas the iron block peaked some time back. SP6 is obviously what the car was intended to have. All have merits.

Boosted.

Speed 6. With the current manufacturers claimed output would be fine for me.

I suspect TVR's Speed six figures are more accurate than Rover V8s you know. Reason: Mine made near as dammit to TVRs figures at Austec yesterday. Completely standard apart from Magnecor leads.

Thats good to know, have heard only good things from Austec too, have a feeling thats where my engine will end up via SP when its time for the dreaded - however, I'd still plump for the S6, every time

Yes. Bit busy customer/jobs to do wise though! A good sign I guess.

So going off internet prices that's
i) £17K+ gearbox stuff say £18K
ii) Say £10+/-£2K
iii) Say £13+/-£2K
hardly a 2.5 price difference whichever way you fiddle it.

Purely on engines option one is lightest, has the most power, has the block designed for the car and is defiantly British so it would be surprising if it weren't a clear winner. Paying for it and running costs is another matter altogether.
