Ben - Tried to call, sorry it was late and you were probably at home by then, I am off on boat decks Thursday and Friday, but might have my mobile if the signal is good.

You will get this paid for if you play it right, the insurance companies employ technical people, just to talk you out of a claim - There's a manager of these people who you need to get too. All these folk are just doing a job, being polite even nice (when it goes agaist the grain) will do no end of good. You will get there its just part of the game!!!

According to the Autoprotect web site, under the MBI (mechanical breakdown insurance) terms and conditions section 4;

4.No liability will be accepted for: fair wear and tear; normal deterioration; the effects of poor
repairs, faults or defects at the time of the sale; parts which have been fitted incorrectly; parts which are of faulty manufacture or design;
or parts not fitted as standard or optional
extra by the manufacturer, unless cover
for such items is agreed beforehand.

Would be interesting to see if they could PROVE that, ask for a report.

Hi all,

Have come to a satisfactory compromise with the dealer - if I had more time I would pursue both TVR and the warranty company but I don't so I won't.

Justin - many thanks for your offer of help, if it goes pop again I know who to chase

Just renewed my Autoprotect MBI policy for 2 years.

They confirmed to me that they do not have any policies which cover wear and tear.

It is my understanding that subject to a 100 point check by a full TVR dealership (cost £150-£180), you can buy through the dealer only, an AutoProtect warranty that covers "fair wear and tear" for round £1350(can't be exact). The basic cover is somewhere around £800ish and for an extra £550ish, you can buy extra cover for "fair wear and tear".
Sorry about the "ish" but not sure of the exact amount.
Hope this helps.

Yep this is the TVR approved warranty that I have just got for another 12 months through my garage. Its only available from main dealers for cars up to 5 years old, although the non wear and tear is available for cars up to 8 years old.

It covers the engine, clutch, brakes etc. etc. and costs £1350 for 12 months following the 1 - 3 hour 100 point inspection that needs to be paid separately (although this should be negligible if included in a service). Non wear and tear is circa £850 but still covers the engine etc.

If anything goes wrong you can go through any dealer garage with this warranty, not just from your original garage. Hope that helps!!

Do a search on the forum for waranty claims. I remember one thread were a fellow PH managed (after some hassle and threat of court) to get a 80% + pay out. I recall the issue of TVR stating that SP6 didn't have a limited life and as no specs have every been issued, the warranty company where unable to prove Wear and Tear. I am sure the work was handled by Austec. They might be able to offer some advice or try Dom at TVRPower (he got my AA warranty claim through - great service)
