All systems are go.

My Tam will be going in to RG next week for strip down.

Bottom half of the engine will be sorted next week, the finished heads will be available early the following week.

So 28th February looks to be the date.
Would you like to place a wager it wil be mid March earliest??
So...... How many beer vouchers drink would you like to wager John?
laugh
You've obviuosly been to see them today and are full of renewed confidence that they will deliver on time.

One beer and a good chat about how the engine meets your expectations would be fine. wink

PS - spoke to my engine builder about my motor on Friday - I was due to collect it next week but the heads are showing unedxpected signs of valve seat recession and the build completion maybe delayed while hardened seats are fitted..I will find out on mid week if it will be finished on time! smile
A beer and a chat sounds good to me thumbup

"Unexpected valve seat recessions"; sounds familiar! Sorry to hear it matey.

Actually, as far as RG hitting the deadlines is concerned, as a Project Manager I would be sweating a bit. There are far too many external dependencies on their critical path to be 100% confident, so it will all come down to relationship management with the suppliers. They do have good relationships with these suppliers, so I'm still confident that mine will be ready on the 28th. But it if it were my project I think you'd probably be able to smell the adrenaline!

First time reading this thread. Was at RG on Thursday to drive the FFF T350. First impression on start up (in freezing conditions) was of course the noise of the engine - or lack of it. Very quiet in comparison to normal SP6. Test drive was limited due to road conditions but lasting impression was the ease of pickup from 2000 rpm in 4th or 5th. No lag or hesitation in the slightest. At speeds up to 80 or 90 (private road) the sound in the cabin was that of exhaust and wind noise, engine imperceptable - no raucous scream like Sag.

Neil
I would concur with Neil on these points having had an early morning 20 min test drive with Martin today whilst collecting my Tuscan. Although I am in no way mechanically minded (regrettably), I have owned my Sp6 for 4 yrs, and having had one rebuild which I identified and highlighted to RG when it happened, feel relatively qualified to comment on the test experience as a whole. My key takeaways from the drive were;

- pick up/delivery of power is consistent from start through to the national speed limit on a dual carriageway, throughout the rev range. I went to 5.5k max, working up and down the gears, and the engine was less "shrieky" than a standard Sp6 at these levels, which I found confidence building.

- the engine seem very positive and "lively" even in low gears and at low revs - ready to go at a moments notice.

- I characterised the engine to Martin as a cross between a strong V8 in terms of its general feel of solidity/power and the Sp6 in terms of immediate and consistent power delivery (i.e no lag). I know this is all very non-technical, but that's what it "felt" like to me which I took as a positive.

- Ultimately having experienced one rebuild and having had a plethora of other issues as an owner, I still struggle to rid myself of the fear that something else will go wrong in the future, even though I easily overcome this when driving! The engine to me represents another really positive move in the direction of giving peace of mind, which has to be a huge step forward in anyones books.

I will be following progress with great interest, as the fundamentals of a more confident, "TVR pure" (i.e. not loosing the spirit of the Sp6) ownership experience are all there in my opinion.

Craig.

If I could just sort out the ongoing warranty issue and recover the money from it, I'd sign up to the FFF head like a shot.

So will you be there to collect on the 28th Sebastien? I dropped mine off at RG today. Getting a bit itchy now; only a week to go.

Martin is pretty certain that they will be ready for the 28th, so yes, just over a week for mine. The bottom engine is all together, they should be getting the heads early next week. The just need to remove my engine and then it's simply (!!!!!) bolting the new parts together.

Unless they hit some significant supply problems I expect that we will both be there on the 28th with big grins and itchy right feet biggrin

Are you going 10:1? I'm going 11:1, with the lightened flywheel, new manifolds and de-cat.

Martin said that you have some sort of time constraint which means that you must get your car back by a certain date.

Sorry mate, but I think you're right. However it will be nice for you to see the Swordfish again, and maybe as a work-in-progress model.

It will be good to meet you two gentlemen. I will be getting to RG at about 15:00 or 15:30 I think as I know Martin wants to keep the cars for a reasonable period of time on the open day. Although I might just need to get there a bit earlier..!

yeah good to read you ! I had Martin on phone this afternoon and he didn't seem to be so confident.
I've got a time deadline on the 4th of March in order to get my registration in France on the 5th after two silly tests for which they need to have the car (a rear view test and another about the engine not disturbing the TV air waves in an anechoic room).
That's why I'm quite anxious...
I've choosen the 10:1 with lightened flywheel and the inox exhaust manifold, I already don't have any more cats.
I hope we will meet the 28th.

I honestly laughed out loud at that one! Do we have enough people turning up next Saturday to be the cast? I feel tubby and thick enough to be Sam Gamgee!
