So does the deafening silence since Saturday (apart from Lees no show event) say good things or bad? Does it still all look as hopefull as it did 22 pages ago??

I hope the response is a positive one!

I didn't get to go out in the demonstrator because it was in almost constant use that day with pre-booked drive slots. But that's ok because I only live down the road from RG and can pop in any time.
However, I didn't hear anyone say anything other than good things about it.

Turn-out was good. And as you can see from my pics, RG put on a good display. The sequential gearbox was very impressive, if noisy*

I know RG were very much hoping to have the first customer car ready for delivery by now, but it looks like this hasn't been the case judging by Lee's admission. I'm sure they're doing everything they can though.

Certainly I'm going to be looking very seriously at having the FFF head on my Sagaris later in the year, if the sums add up and I get one or two things in my personal life sorted to satisfaction.

* - only noisy because it was a cut-away and completely unlubricated. It will be a lot quieter once installed.

From an impartial viewpoint the developments that were on show looked exceptionally well engineering, and there would appear to be sound logic behind them:
  • the FFF head: what many haven't highlighted is that it is fully CNC machined not only to equalise cylinder volumes but also port the inlets and outlets. lick
  • simplex cam chain which saves some 1.3Kg with a resulting gain in power saved.
  • Jenvey throttle bodies which overcome the worn shaft problems experienced by many.
  • beautifully engineered equal length primary exhaust manifolds.
  • sump pan baffle plates with protection to ensure the engine can't be killed by any large injested metal objects.
As we all know, only time (and use) will tell whether the modifications aid longevity, but from what I see they look like they ought to be good news. smile

Quite like the Chameleon Green Sagaris, though, if I have to keep up my reputation to buy "movie car's", I'd buy the black Sagaris from "The Call" (which I prefer even more wink )

My update; I spoke to Martin today and from his perspective the day went extremely well, with nowt but positive comments.

I didn't go because I've seen/heard of so much of the stuff already that the only real reason to go was to collect the car. So instead I had a nice day spent with Jules.

My car; put simply, the first two prototype heads were built, machined, tested then scrapped as planned. Both were A-OK.

Sod's law though that when mine came to assembly after having been machined, they weren't happy with it so they decided to scrap it. It has to be perfect (I think that there is a song title somewhere it that smile )

The next batch of 3 - 4 heads will be produced early this week (tomorrow I think) and I'll have the first one of those (Pascal is actually top of the list but due to the S/C development I'm able to jump up a space). So even if there is a problem, past stats show that it won't be in all of them and I should be collecting early next week.

So, I still owe you the beer John! And as I said - all down to project management of third parties, risk and contingency.

Still - the Millenium Dome was allegedly a failure, and look at it now!

The only problem that I have is that I will probably want the bloody replacement ECU also, and I really cannot stretch to that!

Agreed. I did take a picture of the simplex cam chain but it came out blurred but I did get pics of the Jenvey Thottle Bodies and the Chris Tullet exhaust manifold.
And I forgot to take a pic of the sump pan.

I understand that the simplex cam chain is part of the FFF upgrade, but the exhaust manifold is a £1500 optional extra. It does look gorgeous though.

Were you there then Jeremy? I guess we must have been there at different times. I think I got down for around 2.20pm I think and stayed until just after 4pm.

I missed out on butties due to a) nursing a hangover and hence getting up late, b) needing a haircut and c) needing to wash the Sag as it was embarrassingly filthy. smile

Don't mind at all, you jumping a place, Lee...

As for the Omex: if you'd have the rebuild now, you can easily fit it afterwards, whenever funds allow...

Anyway, would have been nice to see you there, sorry you couldn't make it...

Really hope yours will be ready end of this week, so you can have fun in it. Me, I've got some other things to solve first, that are a bit more important to me than the Tuscan, so I'm not bothered at all that they need some extra time for the S/C developemnt... Better be done good, than fast, I've always said. And by the looks if it, it will be the first wink

First S/C indeed. Probably for a fair while too.

Unless I can sell my body to find the extra funds for an S/C and ECU, and offer NOT to sleep with anyone at RG if they do mine before yours!biggrin

OK scratchchin - yours will be the first S/C!

Right not quick; totally agree. Unless Martin is reading this, in which case right AND quick. Are your other irons the race car or work related?

I'm sitting looking out of my office window at the slush and snow and feeling pleased that I don't have the car at the moment as if it were in the garage, I would be taking it out as much as possible to get the miles on and really wouldn't enjoy it in this weather.

The first RG S/C....I believe Shaun Smith's S/C Sag has left STR8Six...and maybe 'Ringbound for a record attempt...but it could just be rumours... ;-)

True. And isn't there someone that has an S/C Tuscan?

yes yzf1070 - also by Jason at STR8Six, many months ago and apparently running very well.
