Dom,

If the numbers are right then it really is a fantastic achievement and I'll be seriously thinking of signing up for the conversion. As for which alternative Dyno to test it on, you could do worse than to take it to Joolz at Trackcar as he'll have a library of SP6 and AJP V8 charts against which to compare the 4.3.

How much are these power figures when translated into pub/car magazine figures? (i.e. flywheel). I understand this would probably estimated in this case.

Nice one Dom. Don't think people realise that N2O has moved on a bit since the eighties.

Wow great stuff, i have been waiting fot this for ages. Seems quite good value also when you consider the numbers and the cudos of having a 4.3. Definatley worthwhile choice if you plan on keeping the car for a few years.

Obviously not wanted to pry into anyone's secret development work, but has this engine had any other mod's made other than an increased capacity? ie: like the RG 'buckets', etc.

RG Bucket design where originally developed by TVR on there speed twelve nothing to do with Powers 4.3 package

Which begs the question - if they did that on the Speed 12, and subsequent non-bucket engines had no end of finger follower issues then why didn't it made the production engines?

Because TVR, the company we all knew and loved ceased to exist. Hence the bucket head never made it into actual production.

Main problem was apparently one or more batches of f.followers that were not made to right spec, others were fine, but TVR did not own up to it.

They can work perfectly well, and improved f.f's available now that are lighter/stronger/better oil supply going through them. smile

I don't really want to open up that can of worms again, however my impression was it wasn't just the material they were made out of that was the problem. I avoided a speed 6 car until the 2004 revised engine for that reason.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I figured the speed 12 was a relatively old engine and therefore would have been built at the same time as speed 6's which were still using finger followers. I heard Ricardo modified the head and moved to a bucket design but surely that was a long time after the speed 12 hit the road?

The bucket head was a modification to the Speed 12, memory says that the speed 12 initially used finger followers just like the Speed 6.
