Do all Speed Six engines have a plate with the engine builder's name on? I have a small plate below the cam cover on the timing chain cover.

Yes there is a plate showing the the build date and engine builders initials also behind the prop tunnel carpet is a tag showing who built the car as well. My tag is Gary Newman (the singer) don't know the person was though,

My car is a 2001 model and does not have a plate on the engine to say who built it, however when I was at the factory in either 2002 or 2003 I did notice that they had started putting these plates on the engines. Sorry but can't pin it down to an exact date.

My old Chimaera had a Gary Numan tag all over it in various hidden places. I think they did this to every car as I saw the same thing on cars when I was on a factory visit around 2004/2005.

I started a list sometime ago (not complete), but I hope these are correct.
Some have the small plate , others are stamped on the water pump near the engine number.

Gary Newman = I guy called BRENT who built it. There is a picture of him holding the template he used on one of the pages though I dont know which one, Also there is a letter from G Newman to Brent on the page I've quoted I think.

Just had a look for mine no plate, but engine block stamped with the initials DH anyone got any idea who ?
Would be interested to find out who built it as name not on list.
Edited
Would the cylinder heads have been built up by the same person that done the engine block build?
As I have a different initials stamp on the cylinder heads just in front of the exhaust manifold.

The initials stamped on the block are not the engine builders but the person who fitted the ancilleries. Thats why some engines have two sets of initials. When production first started name plates were made for the production engine builders at the time, most of these will have fallen off by now as they were only glued on and details like this were overlooked once we realised there were more fundamental issues to concentrate on.

Just checked mine. It's a 2000 tuscan sp6 with no tag on the front of engine. On further inspection the engine numbers end with the initials MC. Also on the side of the head just above the exhaust manifold it is stamped 894sp6 and builder initial Tp.Does this mean it was built by two different people, MC done the engine and TP the head? Who is TP? Just curious.
