BBC contract rubbish. There's 54,000 Tom toms out there with it on from the first batches produced before the BBC ruined the fun.

Guessing there is a file on the memory card that could be shared?

So there are some files on the memory card... CHK, BMP and VIF

I think that all I need to do is get hold of them and copy them into the directory.

Someone must be sharing these!??

The BBC's issue now, isn't the royalties - but an internal conflict of interest.
Potential Endorsement of a product, created by a high profile employee, that makes money for a third party. Therefore any further sales are banned.

You can't actually pay anyone for it now unless you buy a whole satnav on ebay.
However there are already 54,000 copies out there in the public domain.

So I'd say, in this case, downloading a copy of the voice is fair game.
Hardly stealing the shirt off Clarkson/Tom Tom's back?

(I don't download music etc illegally, and I'd pay for a clarkson voice on my satnav if I could. Infact I don't even have an exciting ringtone, but this might be fairly amusing)

Fundamental misunderstanding of how copyright works there, I think, Glade. It's not about the money, it's about who has the right to make copies - and the licence to exploit that right has been withdrawn from everyone.

According to this thread, the satnav doesn't connect as an external drive so you can't rip off the voice.
