The latest disks are from 2010. They are generally fine, but won't always get you to the door, which a lot of people have become accustomed to using tomtom and similar. Also the calculation time is a little slow at times. Couple of nuances with the guidance are annoying (such as being told to 'turn left' as opposed to 'take the exit' when exiting a motorway, same with roundabouts.

One note, if you don't already know - the GPS navigation relies on a speed pulse from the car. A lot of cars already have them wired into the ISO plug and you'll be fine. Certainly my '98 Merc did. The unit should tell you what pin to look for, think it's pin 1 on one of the blocks. On my MX5, the car had a speed pulse, but i had to tap it from the back of one of the speedo gauge wires. If your car doesn't have one, then you'll have to buy an adapter.

This is a quick and nasty pic of it when I was fitting it in my MX5:

Thanks for the info - good to know.

I'm not sure how the TVR is wired up for Speed Pulse etc.

I have a feeling I may be paying Carl Baker a visit!

JVC also makes a single DIN navigation unit but with a full colour screen.

Sorry to drag up an old thread!
