Is the Transcend Drivepro 200 still a good bet or have things moved on now? I don't mind how bulky it is but need something reliable with good footage at night. Is there any reason to go for the newer Drivepro 50?

DealExtreme have the Xiaomi Yi at £55ish but I'm wary of buying this sort of thing from abroad, had loads of problems with returning 2 faulty A118 cameras and that was from a UK seller. The Drivepro 200 is £70 at Currys.

So I sold my car the other day, and bizarrely the buyer would only agree on the deal for the £10k A4 as long as I left my £40 dashcam in!

The cam was really good quality, an E Prance off Amazon, but they don't do it anymore

I also have a MINI 0806? This has gone faulty, although I've just read that it could be the battery, but even though that was relatively expensive, the cheaper cams quality was noticeably better

So, what's out there for sub £50?

I bought the equivalent BMW one a month or two back as mentioned a few pages back which I strongly suspect is the same hardware as that, and unfortunately it was rubbish so hopefully mine was just a duffer rather than the norm. The video quality when it recorded was reasonable but in about 2 hours of driving split into about 5 return journeys it managed to record only a few minutes of footage. Connecting to it via WiFi was also extremeley hit and miss so I sent it back

Damn, thanks for the info. Could be £60 down the drain for me frown
As an update, they send the wrong one to me and I have had to argue with them and send pictures to prove that it would not fit my car. They kept responding with ...

- It is correct just try and fit it
- You must have ordered the wrong one
- Can you check what car you own

Finally after many messages to and fro they have relented and agreed to send the correct one, but I have to return the wrong one via courier to them.

What they sent on the left, my mirror cover on the right

Just a quick question. I've picked up the DDPai M6+ from Amazon and I've runt the USB cable from behind the interior mirror and sun visor and down between the door shut. You only see it when you open the door, as it runs under the carpet to the USB port and only the passenger will see it come up beside their seat. I'm thinking of going more permanent with a hardwire into the fuse box, but wanted to see how I got on with the camera first.

Are the sticky pads that easy to remove with floss once attached to the windscreen?

ETA: It's a Golf R. If anyone has any wiring advice I'd be appreciative. I'm not a member on VWROC but I see them mentioning hardwiring other dash cameras and would rather hardwire it correctly then ruin it.

Thanks in advance.

I'll be getting one soon, I've nearly decided what to get hehe (DDPai, A119 or Nextbase 412). As for attaching to the screen, my car is a lease, would the 3M super sticky pad on the mount do any damage to the black frit dots around mirror and the edge of the windscreen when i come to take it off again? I want to have something up behind the rear mirror so it's not blocking out too much.

Those dots are baked on during manufacture, there's no way to get them off so there's no issues.

VW also say in the manual that the black dot area is an area of the windscreen that doesn't block communication signals, and is there to allow devices inside the cabin to communicate externally. It made sense when I read it, but writing it down makes me question it's veracity. (They suggested to not cover it too much with dash cams or whatever).

I'm very pleased with my DDPai Mini 2, it is tucked right up behind the mirror and the volume turned down quite low.
If I didn't hear it bleep when I start the car I would have totally forgotten it was there, as I never see it in the corner of my eye when driving nor does it ever catch my attention when looking in the mirror.
There is a little bit of reflection of the dash at the bottom, but its not too intrusive. I suppose that is just due to my dash design rather than the camera being bad.
Looking back at some random video footage the quality is very very good day and night.
The little remote is handy, I've just put it in the ash tray rather than sticking it on the dash or steering wheel.
If you see something of interest for whatever reason you can just hit the button and it will take a photo while recording video, for example:

Like the look of that. Had an 0803 years ago and been meaning to get another but so many to choose from.
I do recall the DDPAI name being featured as a best cam for another model too. Any negatives you have found?

Might pick up a couple for front and rear. - Or do I need one for rear? Is it easy to rotate on the go If I have concerns about a driver in rear? Obviously wouldn't be as good as a camera on the rear screen but is it acceptable?

Any suggestions on best supplier for them?

Thanks

I need a camera for security reasons as my car keeps getting keyed. I've looked at a few options I still don't know what to go for. It will be for use when the car is parked and ideally have some sort of motion detector to set it running. Planning on having it facing backwards inside the car to cover the sides and rear of the car.

Have been considering the latest Blackview 2 ch but it's very expensive compared to others.

Recommendations please, I really need to catch the git that keeps damaging my car, which isn't parked anywhere near my house where I could hook up some CCTV.

Forgot to mention, I got the hard wiring/voltage monitor too, it sits there recording for as long as you set it for once you park.
I've had it fitted two weeks now and not had a single low voltage warning from the car, so can only assume its doing its job!

I can't think of any negative things about it tbh.
I got it from here, it arrived in a couple of days, and the wiring kit from Amazon.

I was considering the DDPai Mini2 aswell but I want to have it hard wired into the car (2010 Focus ST Mk2.5) rather than into the cigarette lighter. No idea how to do it. Would get a qualified person to do it but no idea who or how much they would charge. Im in South Devon if anybody has a recommendation.

Will need this aswell I assume http://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Original-Ddpai-3m-Hard-Wir...

Looks great. I think I will be going for that one. I like small and discrete. I can't stand these great big things like a CRT television taking up half the windscreen!

Does yours have ddpai on the front or chinese letting like in some of the photos?

Are there any true UK sellers?

All the 'UK' ones I have looked at on ebay, when you scroll to the bottom of the page is a chinese business/address.

I bought mine from the above seller. Took 2 days to arrive, so must have been UK stock.

F770 owners - is it possible to turn all ALL of the voice notifications? I might finally order one this weekend, spent nearly 2 years pondering so it's about time that I fisted the kumquat.

Almost, I think. The only one mine still gives is after a "parking incident " - it announces how many incidents have happened whilst car was parked.

Don't know how to stop that, other than turning parking mode off I suppose.

Mine still announces parking incidents even though the volume is all the way down. Is yours permanently silent?

My mini2 came from Bedford in the link I gave earlier. It arrived in a couple of days.
Mine is hard wired into the fuse box, it's very straight forward and anyone who has fitted a headunit or understands very basic electronics could do it.
You simply connect the red wire to a permanent live and the black to earth
