Dash Cameras

This year I've had two no fault accidents.
Both times the other party admitted liabilty and then changed their story.
I think the way to go is a "black box" dash cam.
Any recomendations ?
I want one that is almost like a race V box which shows speed etc.

I bought a cheap one for 36 quid from Amazon (pictured below) and it's been OK, I'm definitely in the market for something better though, perhaps something with GPS to record speed and routes (although remember that this can also work against you if you have an accident and you're going over the speed limit). If going for a cheap chinese generic style one, remember that they don't all have the same internals; so whilst 2 cameras may look identical, one may have far superior hardware than the other. Mine was advertised as 720p, but the 720p turned out to be (badly) upscaled VGA which turned everything into a horrible jerky mess. VGA works well though.

My main advice is to be very careful what exactly you're getting if going for a cheap chinese generic type one. It's a gamble, as sometimes you get some really decent hardware in them which matches more expensive dashcams such as GoPros or Roadhawks, but then in other cases when you haven't done proper research, you can end up with a dashcam of disappointment, like I have.

I'm thinking of getting one too and have been tempted by the Roadhawk range.

£200 for an all in one solution which continously records and if an event happens, it will record 20 seconds either side of the event which it will not over write. A sharp deceleration or impact will trigger this.

Seems to be the neatest solution too.

Sure does, I hope the Quality makes the cost worthwhile.
The more Cheapo stuff I have tried over the past few months
the more I have decided to buy the best I can find.
I looked and considered Roadhawk, but chose this after many reviews and example videos etc.

I suppose an interior view is useful, but I would have thought a rear view is more useful.

In an ideal world, you would have forward, side and rear views, (with an interior too) - should cover all eventualities!

Best thing about the one I posted above is that it's easily hidden so can be left without another bloody sucker stuck to the windscreen!

I've the roadhawk, it is mounted next to, and in front of my rear view mirror, it is on all the time, and nobody even notices it is there.

Have thought about getting one, but wonder about the odd time I decide to have a play? Can you turn it off or easily delete stuff you don't want on there that could be incriminating?

I would assume you would clear the memory yourself?

Just copy off the bits you want and delete the rest. It could drop you in it if you've been a silly boy but on balance I think I'd want it.

i'm surprised no-one has made one yet with dual camera's which are separate to the main recorder.

Permanently fix it in the boot with live feed and then you'd be able to hide the cameras a lot better from prying eyes but all the ones i've found have to be stuck on the window so only a matter of time before someone takes a fancy to it around here.

I know the 1 time i forget to remove it would be the 1 time some scrote spots it!
