Another problem will be that there are scores of products which all appear similar. Some will use the same case/chassis whilst others will be copies (yes, they have as little regard for each others IP as they do ours!).
Some will be good, but another 'version' may be terrible, whilst looking virtually identical. Have you tried Techmoan's site? His reviews are usually excellent.

Try this:

720p from the main cam, rear is only VGA but does the job fine.

I've had a Roadhawk RH1 (The older version) in my car for about two years. Saved me a few times plus the footage was used to catch a hit and run driver. (I wasn't involved in the crash.)
I have also sent footage in to the police when an Audi driver was driving very beastly and gave me the finger. He also had sunglasses on and it was dark.
(The last bit is a joke by the way.)

For anyone in need of a Class 10 Micro SD card there is a good deal for a 16GB card at Play for £7.99

Interesting, I received one of the eBay ones for Christmas. (

It's a faff initially because all of the instructions are in Chinese, as are the menus on the camera. However, by lots of trial and error I've managed to change it to English.
First impressions are very good. I had some teething troubles with the settings, but now seem to have got it to a state whereby it automatically records all the time, overwriting the oldest footage.
The quality is alright- It's difficult to pick out numberplates from moving images but if the car's close enough you can see them clearly. Low light performance not great however I may have to fiddle with the settings a bit. The motion detection function works really well though.
I've currently got it plumbed into the car and continuously recording, hopefully the current drain should be minimal... Fingers crossed. I think it's discreet enough not to be visible unless you really look, it would be a bummer if the car were broken into because of it though!
Might have a look at that Class 10 card. Currently got a Class 4 HP 4GB one, but it doesn't store a huge amount of footage. Enough to work as an "incident recorder" when out driving but would be nice to have a couple of days rolling recording in case of car being hit whilst parked, etc.
Haven't really tried the rear camera yet, there's nowhere suitable for me to mount it!

By being funnier, you could omit the 'this is a joke' addendum.
Yes, usually I wouldn't bother but for some reason people are not getting my jokes tonight - like when I posted his "address" in the "James Martin's garage" thread which was actually the address of the Hampshire Constabulary Transport Workshop. I can just imagine PH'er furiously pressing the report button! (Ok, maybe mods have got better things to do but hey ho)
Anyhoo. I also have a Roadhawk on the rear window.

Thanks for the mini review. I've seen that one before but it's a bit cheap so I don't really trust it. So many of these Chinese electronics things look the same but the electronics are different http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-0-LCD-Dual-Lens-Car-Ve...

Meh, it arrived quickly enough. If it goes wrong I'll probably bin it.
You'd bin £150 if it goes wrong? That doesn't sound like the sort of money that'd be considered disposable.
