I've not read all of the thread, but the G1W seems to get good reviews and is only thirty-odd quid.

Has anyone tried one?

Oli.
£26.04 on Ebay - just watched a You Tube video of it and the quality looks excellent. Any idea how long it records for before running out of memory? Also, does it clear previous footage when you finish one journey and start another?
Yes I've got one. It's been in the car for a couple of months now and seems fine. Video quality and sound recording are good. Windscreen mount does the job. Does all the usual dash cam stuff, records on power on, loop recording etc.

That's useful - thanks. My concern is how to ensure that, in the event of an incident, I can identify and lock the relevant block of footage easily and reliably.
You just press the down arrow when filming and it locks the current segment (and previous segment I read somewhere but can't see that in instructions.)
Tried it and a little lock appears in screen but nit looked into the files yet to see if you can identify them easily.

I've set mine to 3 minutes at the moment

Also after an accident you could just turn it off and nothing will be overwritten

Edit g sensor automatically locks the se meant in a crash.

Just fitted the 0803 using a 12v to 5v dc converter with two USB ports. So I used the second port for a phone charger. Nice and neat no cables showing. I was restricted to positioning because of all the crap on the windscreen behind the mirror.
Tapped off the switched lighter socket

oh I need to get a indelible black pen on the writing and peel that sticker off.

To cover the writing, I used a Sharpie. Basic, but worked.

Do you use the same on the chrome lens ring?

I didn't as my 0801 didn't come with a chrome ring (ooh err!) around the lens

You can see which files are locked (on Windows, not sure about Mac) by setting explorer to show the Attributes column. They will each show the R (read only) attribute. Also if you use RegistratorViewer, essential for any dash cam but especially GPS enabled models, which displays all the 3-minute files as one single movie for the whole journey (it does not actually change the individual files behind the scenes); it shows the read-only/locked/incident files as yellow segments in the timeline at the bottom of the screen.

Thanks I'll look into that attributes thing and the viewer. I don't have gps, don't want that.

I watched techno mans review again and pointed the camera down two clicks as he suggested much better quality. I also cleaned the windscreen inside smile

Bought a E-Prance G1W but I cannot download any videos via the supplied USB cable. Seems to be recognised but appears to be no recording. Anybody else had any luck doing this?

Over priced but a neat package. For £150 I would strongly reccomend the Lukas range, LK-7900 are right up there with the very best. They have just made the LK-7700 which is similar but at a lower price point. I have both and there is little difference in image quality. A very neat solution is the LK-7300 with a seperate camera to the remote recording device.
I bought from eBay with a seller called Greensum. The LK7900 was that good, I bought the 7700 and 7300 for my other cars. Although he ships from Korea, all three have been a good buy.

LK-7300 - Watch at 1080p and freeze frame where you like and check out reg plates.

LK-7900 - Also to watch at 1080p and freeze frame the same.

Compare it to other vids and freeze frame to read reg plates. The ones above are a good example.

I can freeze frame my blackvue when using my pc and clearly read plates , however when i upload to youtube the quality is altered in the process so it doesnt look as good , so the youtube links dont really tell the full story

Techmoan repeatedly makes the same point. It's interesting to compare the quality of YouTube footage and that directly downloaded from his site.

I got the GPS mount with the 0803 eprance thinggy. I can view the video files on my MacBook by putting the micro sd card into an adaptor and watching them, but how do I view the GPS data? It it possible to overlay it onto a map and view speeds etc?

I'm quite liking the look of the LK 7700, it would seem to answer my needs (I have no needs, this is purely an impulse purchase!) and its under £100. (I wont be needing 2 channels so the 7900 might be wasted on me.
I don't suppose anyone has any images of it in their car, as opposed to just a pretty marketing picture?

Thanks
Matt

If you look at the review of the 0803 on techmoan towards the end he shows you how to do it using the included software plus gives a pointer to other software that allows you to do this. Aiui the software is in another directory, video files in one, gps logs in another and software in another.
