Gee you lot are a bit slow.

I was driving around with this fitted in 1968, at least for a race. Of course the modern ones aren't quite as bulky.

Didn't do me much good, a rock went through the lens after just 3 seconds of filming.

Perhaps that's why they put them inside today.
Fantastic pic, though doubt whether most of us could afford such a fantastic car to attach the camera to.

And a great shame about the lens being broken so quickly. I assume you are the forerunner to the current generation of dash cameras wink

I dearly wish that this type of camera technology had existed in the 1980s or 1990s because it would have caught some stunningly poor examples of motoring and policing for all to see before it could have been brushed under the carpet.

Bottom line is that modern day dash cameras level the playing field because you now have the video evidence to replay if necessary. Just so long as you remember to download the footage on a regular basis.

I couldn't afford it either Rich.

I only got to drive it on that weekend, then never saw it again.

It was actually a bloody awful race car, but was one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen.

One of the best pics I've seen on here in a long time - superb!

I'd be interested.
Also on compatibility of mount & hardwire kit with 0803.

I know nothing so forgive my questions (i'm feeling the need to get a dashcam), but what does a CPL filter do?

Polarising lens for the camera. Mount is the same for 0806 as 0803 although there is also a 'parking mount' option as well - I've not gone for this but I have gone for the filter and GPS version of the camera (my 0803 has GPS so it made sense to do so).

I'll post my thoughts too when it arrives.

Ebay:

Unless I've been victim to over zealous advertising?
Where is a good place to buy in the UK? I've seen it in the US so will maybe order from there as I've got a bundle of other stuff ready to come over to me.

£103 with all add ons: http://www.diggcams.com/pre-sell-mini-0806-mini-08...

Actually it does look like it's the 0806 (MicroSD slot B is underneath). I've ordered mine from one of the UK distributors though rather than ebay.

Here you go:

They're regular posters on dashcamtalk too.

eta: anyone think that the ebay one looks like it could be a prototype? A bit rough'n'ready compared with the one on Joovuu?

What is a Parking Guard mounting bracket?

If you want to leave the camera in the car recording whilst parked up:

PARKING GUARD

When you have turned off your engine, the 0806 camera will detect the battery
voltage change and launch Parking Guard mode. The video recording will then
be low frame rate to save storage space. Once any impact over the threshold
value is detected, the camera will change to normal recording mode to save a
30 second video clip. This file will be protected from over-write by the loop
recording function.

(You need the Parking Guard mounting bracket to support the Parking Guard
function, which is an optional accessory.) Here you can define the impact
detection sensitivity options:

OFF
LOW
MIDDLE
HIGH

I don't plan on leaving the camera in the car when parked up; if it's stolen, it has GPS logs of all my journeys including to where I live so I never leave the camera in the windscreen when I'm not in the car.

There's pages and pages of talk about the 801 and 806, I'm going to break from the norm here and praise and sing about the SJCAM SJ 4000. It's pretty much a clone of the GoPro. I also own a GoPro and it's pretty hard to tell the different in vid quality both night and day use. Packed with features inc car mode, rear screen, switch mode, wifi, motion mode ect, box comes packed with accessories as standard all for a fraction of the GoPro £70

Mines perminatly fixed as a dash cam, it's a tiny cam and hides behind the rear view mirror and worked flawlessly for months.

Mr Technomoan has given a great review too.
I've just bought one of these. Will keep you posted.
