There's a million different cams available!

I had ordered a 0806, however stil not heard anything and getting a whif of sone bad reviews

Is the 0805 a decent cam?

Found this one on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Mini-0805-Ambarella-...

Does this seem a good deal?
I've posted a few times regarding the mini 080# cams since page 120 so search back for my thoughts and where I bought from.

The price is good but do you really want to send it back to China if there's an issue with it?

I bought an 0805 from a selling on Amazon called '99 Digital' - £59 I think. Seems to work just fine. Order a class 6 SD card at the same time (I have found 32GB records around 6 hours at the optimal resolution). I ordered a hardwiring kit from eBay which turned out to be from Combi (another selling recommended on here).

Buy from Combi and the hardwiring kit comes free. Together with their top customer service!

Probably insurer specific. Will give my insurance a bell later to see what they say.
Hardwiring a camera a notification requirement for insurance purposes?

Is someone avin' a giraffe?

I keep my A.A. card on the back of the sun visor. Should I tell 'em about that?

confused

I hadn't even thought about it before someone else mentioned it. More worried about my lifetime warranty on the GTS tbh.

Anyone got these reviews of the 0806? As I was planning on buying two to fit in my car.

I know it can be as little as an extra £12 but is having the GPS option really worth it? (I'm thinking of getting the 0803 but I'm on a tight budget)

The other question I have regarding gps is how does it react if you have a heated windscreen? A Garmin gps unit is ok as is a phone running Waze as two other examples tried. Going to have to get off the procrastination pot soon.

Just noticed Techmoan is being fairly negative about the 0806.

Preproduction version was faulty as was one bought on eBay apparently.

Yes I was very disappointed when I read the Techmoan review. And very poor of the manufacturers of the 0806 to release it onto the market when it obviously wasn't ready.

Am holding back on buying an 0806 dash cam until these reliability issues have been ironed out.

Very disappointed indeed!

Right I got the 0805 and fitted it into my works van.

boring until about 2 mins 30 seconds in so zip forward to that, the dodgy commentry (sp) is me and there are a few muttered swears so may not be work safe

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tP8w7uao_SQ

second clip is the same van driver almost taking out a motorbike coming the other way.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b09AupYTk0

I'm not going to become some kind of dash cam holier than thou toss pot however this was the first time I used it and thought the footage was worth posting up.

The gap between me and the truck in front looks bigger than it is due to the camera lens however it was -2 degrees C and I decided a 3-4 second gap was prudent.

I am in no way the safest driver on the roads and have done some silly things in the past, the dash cam is a kind of self regulation device its little blue blinking light reminding me not to drive like a tit

Cancelled the 0806 and ordered the 0805 from Combi at £87 inch free hardwire kit

Literally done a spin round the block - my MPH and the GPS co-ordinates don't move, think I'm missing something simple?

Watching it back, Im also noticing the video is ever so slightly jumpy - is this an SD card issue?

That van driver will come unstuck one day soon chancing things like that.

Out of interest what editor have you used to show the GPS data etc in the bottom right hand corner of the clip? And which 'stamp' settings do you have set in the camera?

Could be a card issue, class 10 should be fine in there if that's what you're using, but cheapy ones can cause issues. Got a Samsung 32gb evo in mine from Combi and no issues.

I bought an 0805 after cancelling an 0806 order from JooVuu. I too had the same MPH not moving and GPS put me in the English channel. I did a FirmWare update and that sorted those issues. Re the playback I have the same card and mine does it on my laptop but is ok on my PC so put it down to the computer.
