Hi all, well didn't fit my Dashcam at the weekend as unsure where to place it... My car is a 2005 Cayenne, was going to fit it behind/ next to the rear-view mirror however that would mean putting the adhesive on the dotted sun strip at the top of the screen... Do you think the dotted sun strip would be pulled off if I had to remove the mount...? It's also a little difficult to plug in/remove the power lead due to being so close to the roof if the car and roof lining.... Any advice would be gratefully received.... Thankfully my 509 mile drive was without incident although some of the flooding around Inverness etc was unreal, as were the blizzards and storm force wind & rain coming through Glencoe today....
No adhesive tape will remove the dotted section of the black edging, it's ceramic baked on during the construction of the windscreen, so no worries there.

As for the second part of the question about the lead, I'd suggest leaving it plugged in at the camera end and just unplug the cigar end when not in use. That's presuming you don't want to remove it from the car when not in use though.

If you ever want to remove the mount from the windscreen then don't try forcing it off with a screwdriver, etc. or you will either crack the windscreen or break the mount, just use cheap dental floss to saw through the adhesive pad stuck between the mount and the glass, then peel the remaining adhesive off the windscreen and the mount.

You will need to buy some two sided black foam tape if you want to refit the mount, I bought a roll off Amazon which cost £2.43 inc delivery, link is http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009IQCET2 have to say it sticks down extremely well, no second chances with this stuff, so make sure you position it correctly first time round!

Got my SJ4000 with Wifi a few weeks back and so far very pleased with it. Only downside is the app as it's a bit temperamental. Haven't used it as an action cam yet but can't see any issues apart from the fact that swapping the battery seems to loose the time/date - but not the on screen name that you can add to show on the footage.

My 0801 arrived today so took it for a quick test run.

Very easy to get started but you need to make sure the mounting to the UPS sticky mount is solid or it doesn't charge. Also, after following a link from Techmoan i downloaded and installed Registrator Viewer from here: http://www.registratorviewer.com/download_en.html

Absolutely brilliant. It even knew where my files were without me telling it. Witch Craft!

Screenshot below, location stuff blurred out.

What about at the bottom of the screen in the middle? Would need to clear the bonnet though.
Hi Davie
For a while I had a temporary dash cam on the dash in the middle as you describe, here is a still from it:

Note that the wipers can get in the way a bit, but the essentials of the view are all there.

I finally got around to fitting my 0805 at the weekend. It took about an hour, mainly because it was being fitted to a Honda S2000, and it's not the easiest of cars to work on for some things, electrics being one of them.

The camera is excellent. Not as good as my MiWitness, but that cost about five times as much, so it should be good. The quality is plenty good enough, with good exposure compensation going from bright sunlight to shade and vice versa. Number plates are perfectly legible, which is very important. I haven't tried it at night yet, but from the videos that I've seen it copes well.

For the money, I'm more than happy with the 0805.

I'm really impressed with this 0801. For less than £50 with GPS you can't go wrong.

It must also have had a firmware review as all the reviews I watched while decided had everything in kph which wasn't switchable. Will see how it goes tomorrow in the daylight. Need to route the cable properly too.

OK OK OK .... I'm sold on the 0801 smile

So, where's the best place to order from and what exactly should I order. I want the GPS option and will have it hard-wired into the kinkmobile. Any other options to consider?

browsing Amazon for the 801s in the suggestions it has some big brand dash cams at ok prices too, anyone got any experience of these?

HP £99 http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00TQZ22LU?psc=1 seems ok but almost double the price of the 801.
Polaroid £144 http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00RTIV4WE?psc=1 seems a bit big
RAC £80 http://www.raccarcam.co.uk/proofcam/cameras/produc... dont like the orange bits.

All of them are huge. Better buy a few of them as they may go missing regularly.

Anyway, anyone got the 801 to act as removable storage? The documentation says it should default to that when connected to a PC / laptop but mine powers up and starts recording.

Just ordered an 0801 from Amazon, not sure how I'll get the lead across the top of the windscreen as I can't see any easy way to do it with the roof lining (08 bmw 3 series) but will cross that bridge when I come to it!

My daily hack is considerably less well built but i'll be running it down the a-pillar and into the fuse box on the left.

Anyone hard wired one of these yet?

Wiring stuff like this is really easy in the S2000
There are spade take off points in the fuse box just above the drivers right knee. One is even switched with the ignition wink

This looks like it will do the job for hard wiring.

I'm looking to by a dash camera system but want to be able to record from the front and rear. I want this feature for potential accident recording so no point in just front only.

It will be fixed in the car and I will be hard wiring it.

Please can someone shove me in the best direction?

Thanks in advance
I have this and its perfect.
