I just assumed the footage was sped up slightly to give the less patient viewer an indication of the events leading up to the idiotic entrance by the BMW/Astra/car shaped object, no?

At 0:17 the footage slows back down to normal...

That's great quality, what camera is it? 0806?
Mini 0803
Ah, same as me. I was hoping the 0806 was up to scratch.

I'm running the Dome G90 A7. I've got it wired in with a blackvue powermagic pro to protect my battery however if you're using your car every day I can't see you coming back to a flat battery anyway. I've got motion detection turned on for when I'm not in the car. You can also turn on the G-force detection in case anyone hits your car.

My model isn't the smallest of cameras however I purchased it for the great night capability. I'm recording at over 1080p video resolution but youtube downscales it unfortunately.
This one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGSfJWpXfQI

That mount looks rather 'snazzy', quite a good idea.

A few months back I asked the question what DC should I get (~£100). 0803 was the answer but wait for the 0806.

Has the 0806 sorted itself out with its teething troubles?

I want something good quality and also able to record at night. So what's the latest recommendations?

Thanks

It seems ok - early ones were blighted by loose wires and dodgy GPS but I think they're getting there.

Got mine recently and it's been fine.

Quality seems good (YT seems to kill a lot of the detail and recodes from the 2560 original to 1080) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1ey6w-dKl4

Seems good at night, and very good in decent light: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePMy6by16-c

How long before dash cams become a factory fit option or standard feature?

Can't be long now as they can fit in the mirror and be seen on the dash just like a reversing camera.

Any ideas how to get rid of the glare off the windscreen I see reflection off my dash.
Going to try a piece of sponge at the bottom of the camera to block out underneath, guess it won't work but you see my idea.

You can fit a circular polarising filter (CPL) over the lens which will reduce glare and reflection but this needs to be removed at night time because it reduces the amount of light entering the lens. You can buy a CPL from many photographic stores or alternatively take a look at the filter on offer at Combi which is magnetic and fits over the Mini 0806 lens, link is: http://www.combi.org.uk/categories/6/Mini-0801-DVR

You may have to make your own filter fitting to put over your own dash cam because many of them have a plastic surround.

My current two cameras are 0803 and 0801...I say current because I have just bought two Mobius cameras they blow the other two out the water for image quality and function, plus they have a smaller profile so will be less obvious in the front.

They can have super capacitors installed for hardwiring to the car which eliminates the battery problems of other cameras, great buy for under £50.

I agree with you, I have two 0801 cameras and a 2nd generation 0806, and have to say that in the daytime the Mobius is very good indeed, and I would say matches the video quality of the 0806. The Mobius is actually better when driving because the 0806 tends to blur the number plates of oncoming traffic, though have to say that the 0806 is superior at night-time. Has to be remembered that the 0806 costs nearly double!

I purchased my Mobius direct from the manufacturers ebay shop: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/eletoponline365/Mobius-Ac... just remember to purchase the add-ons like the windscreen mount, 3m cable and USB charger (for the cigarette lighter socket) because the Mobius is an action cam which just happens to work very well as a dash cam. Is also available with a 32GB card which is the variant that I purchased. Is smaller than a pack of matches.

Highly recommended.

Does the mobius auto start recording when it receives power , and stop when the power is cut?

Yes I have recorded video footage of the 0806 and the Mobius which I need to upload onto mega.co.nz so that you can download and view the video for yourselves. Nothing exciting mind, just gives you an idea of the excellent quality. Will post a link on here in the next few days.

Incidentally, if you're using VLC to view the video footage then you need to change the preferences to enhance the viewing quality. From the top menu bar select VLC > Preferences > Video > Look down to Deinterlace mode and select 'Bob' or 'Yadif (2x)' from the drop-down menu, then click Save.

Bear in mind these options increase the work the processor needs to do, don't make these changes if you have a slow computer!

Yes you can set the Mobius to auto-start and auto-stop if you wish, along with a multitude of different options using the downloadable app MobiusManager for use on Mac, PC and android, screenshots shown below to demonstrate what you can adjust to suit your needs. Is well clever and so easy to use.

Take a look at the Techmoan video review of the Mobius camera on Youtube which was a great help to me with setting everything up, link is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wmIyD1fM4M

Urgh, I try not to use sites like that - could you up it to Youtube in HD?

I very nearly clicked 'buy' on an 0806 today but after my experience with the 0805 I hesitated and thought I'd ask here first. The 0805 I had was terrible in comparison to the 0803.

Am I right in thinking you cant make the mobius record when it's connected to a PC - it detects USB and automatically goes into webcam mode?

Also techmoan showed a video lead for the USB connector so you could connect it to your in-car media screen. Has anyone tried this for playback or displaying the world as you drive along?

I'd be nervous as a manufacturer fitting one of these. What if it fails to record an accident, or the image isn't quite good enough, joe public would then blame the camera, and therefore the dealer/manufacturer. It's opening a can of worms in terms of insurance liability. Although I guess the same applies now but for some reason it seems less likely someone would go after the manufacturer of a mini0803.
