Halfords are now selling hardwire kits for dashcams, made by nextbase they come with add-a-fuse connections for both mini and standard blade fuses. The only issue is they only come with a mini USB end.

I finally fitted my 0805 this evening with a kit using a mini to micro USB adapter, for £10 the wiring kit is good quality and well thought out.

Urgh, I try not to use sites like that - could you up it to Youtube in HD?

I very nearly clicked 'buy' on an 0806 today but after my experience with the 0805 I hesitated and thought I'd ask here first. The 0805 I had was terrible in comparison to the 0803.
Nothing wrong with mega.co.nz it works fine for downloading stuff unless the download file is filled with viruses, problem with YouTube is that the original video gets resampled which isn't very good if you are trying to demonstrate video quality which has been mangled by YouTube.

The 0806 is pretty good, but nowhere near as good as I was expecting, and in certain instances, like blurred number-plates of oncoming cars is actually worse than the basic 0801 I purchased last year for less than half of what the 0806 costs. The first 0806 was faulty so I returned it to Combi who sent out a replacement straightaway and this 0806 has been 100% reliable in terms of video quality, but quite a few of its enhancements don't actually work, like for example the two SD card option, yet it only records to one of them and doesn't auto switch when the first one is full, also it's GPS is a bit patchy to say the very least, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Have tested it with 64GB cards and 128GB recorded in FAT32 and they all work perfectly well with no errors which is good. For £110 it ought to be good.

The Mobius just works astonishingly well, it's very well made and the 1080p video quality in the daytime is excellent, it's extremely small and the manufacturer has provided the ability disassemble the unit to replace parts such as change the battery to super-capacitor if you choose to hardwire the unit into your car. It has an in-built battery with an 80 minute recording life so can be taken out of the car and used on a bike or anywhere else you can think of. As I mentioned before, I ordered it via the manufacturers ebay shop and it arrived direct from China in 7 days which I thought was fantastic. Ought to mention that I've tested it with a 64GB card with no problems and it is currently working perfectly well at the moment fitted with a 128GB class 10 card. It's available for less than £50 inc delivery which is outstanding.

Hmm. I might just replace with another 0803 if I can find one. .The small mark on the lens of mine is annoying me.

My Mobius is the newer version which has a higher capacity battery (2h 20mins recording time) and a new wider angle lens ( Lens C )

Here's a couple of pic's showing the size of a Mobius compared to a 0801.

As you can see the front profile is much smaller than a 0801 type camera, its a little longer but thats not an issue.

I got mine from here - https://eu.banggood.com/Wholesale-Warehouse-Mobius... - and use the discount code " NEWUK " to get 8% off and quick delivery to as its sent from the UK.

Haha, you do know that you can mute the sound on the 080* dash cams via the menu options, but you need to do this before you start recording!

OK, quality of the 0806 looks really good. Nice unit too, I helped him fit it to his new car. Certainly as good as the 0803.

That said, I've just been naughty and ordered myself some other bits so replacing my 03 can wait for the moment as the only reason I want to upgrade is a minor mark that you really have to look for on the playback.

To those considering the 0806 I wouldn't hesitate based on what I've seen. Joovuu have it with the CPL for £100 with free delivery at the moment:

so 0805 is now in teh wifes car and she's been out for a test drive.

strangely it's been recording for 20-30 seconds at a time with 5-10 second gaps, but then changed to recording in 5 minute segments.

anyone got any ideas?

Is 'Motion Detect' switched ON?

I just bought a Nextbase dashcam, http://www.halfords.com/technology/dash-cams-parki...

Unfortunately the price has gone up since Saturday, I paid £129 from Halfords.

I was spurred on when I had a chap in a old Astra who took umbrage when I accelerated from him from a 30 zone to NSL. I have around 650 NM of torque so 30 to 60 takes a couple or 3 seconds. I slowed back to 50 to let him go by but he chose to ride my bumper. We got to a 40 mph zone and as I was doing this speed he decided that this was a good place to overtake just missing center bollards and just missing my rear end.

I had a word with him when he pulled into my village and asked if he thought his driving was acceptable. He reply was I must have doing 80mph to pull away from him like that and where's my proof of his driving, well I now have a dash cam and next time I'll report the idiot.

Back on topic. I just posted a clip showing the quality of image from the Nextbase, I'm glad to have it fitted.

Ahh it is, so that could be it, but why is it doing that rather than the continuous record? from the switch ignition? I wonder if it has a loose connection.

A few snapshots to compare the Mini 0806 to the Mobius Actioncam from video footage I recorded on Sunday.

The Mini 0806 dash cam shows the time and date info in the bottom right-hand corner whilst the Mobius records the time and date info in the bottom left-hand corner.

One minute video clips are available from Mega.co.nz if you want to download them - links shown below:

I don't think it is a fault because you can change the record block length to 1, 3, 5 minutes, or OFF by changing the settings.

I seem to recollect on my 0806 the default record setting was 5 min on loop recording, so in other words, it would record incremental 5 minute blocks until the memory card was full, then loop round and over-write the oldest video clips. Motion Detect works in addition to this record length.

You can download the full 0806 instruction manual from: http://www.mini0806.com/firmware/mini0806%20manual...

Better image from the 0806 imo, plus it is also wide angle which is a bonus. Mobius image seems over sharpened.

I forgot to mention that you need to click on the thumbnails and zoom in to full size before making comparisons between the images.

Also worth mentioning is that the Mobius is available with a wide angle lens though it costs a little more, these videos were recorded using the standard lens.

The 0806 has an internal battery which lasts for approx 10 minutes. The Mobius is fitted with an internal battery which records for 2hrs 25 minutes.

The 0806 has GPS for accurate speed and time and date, plus a small LED screen which making positioning on the windscreen and setting up easy. The Mobius doesn't, though it does have a very easy to use app for setting up on Mac OS, Windows, and Android.

The Mobius is very well manufactured and extremely reliable, with the added advantage that the manufacturer has actually designed it to be taken apart and components replaced as and when necessary, they even provide the means to refocus the lens. Try replacing the battery or lens in the 0806 and you will find it is extremely difficult.

Both of these cameras offer excellent 1080p video quality, however, the Mobius cost me £56 with a windscreen mount, cable and USB charger plug, the Mini 0806 cost me £110.
