Hi guys, I have installed my mobius and it is a decent bit of kit.

HOWEVER - I have recently had a DAB radio antenna installed on my windscreen, and the dashcam when on is interfering with the DAB signal so much so that I cannot get any DAB reception with it switched on! I have done some research and understand it's a common problem. Mobius have a shielded case that they sell but I cannot find any retailers apart from them and I do not want to pay big courier fees to get one. Has anyone had this and managed to solve it? I have ordered some copper conductive tape that I am planning to put on the inside of the case as I have read this may solve it...Help appreciated!
I had issues with the mobius leaking RF on my quadcoptor causing the GPS take an age to get a lock, I fixed it with some copper tape. I opened it up and stuck it inside the case but there's nothing stopping you simply wrapping the outside of the case with it (though it will now be not so discreet being shiny copper coloured.

btw to take the mobius case apart once you've undone the two screws pull it from the front and then lift the back up , I didn't the first time I broke one of the plastic lugs.

Today, I have been mostly fitting my old Mobius.
I took it out of my old car before selling her last December, but never got around to fitting it in the replacement.

Now I only have a cam for the chance something happens on the road and I need to prove it wasnt my fault.
I have never liked them sitting behind the mirror or stuck to the screen I wanted a OEM looking solution.
This is my Mobius with the wide angle lens. The FoV is a little further to the right than my wing mirror, when Im sat in the drivers seat and it can see the left A pilar. so if I hit anything, it will see it, if anything hits me, it will see where i was in relation to the road.

and once all the trim is back...

for power I fited a ebay 5v USB adaptor. like this to a switched 12v under the dash with a 5A fuse.

I'm trying to think how it works
Can you download the video from the USB cable? Or do you have to unpack it after an event?

Well I hope never to have 'an event' so I hope never to see the thing again (OK ok, I may check on it once or twice a year to check its still working)
but yes, its powered by a USB cable which goes to a power supply behind the dash side panel, so open the panel, unplug USB cable from power, plug into laptop, download video file.

should I have a major event, then the whole thing gets pulled out.

My Mobius gets incredibly hot under operation - is yours not going to suffer from a lack of ventilation under that piece of interior trim?

Yes, Nextbase 402g. Really good and works well. I've owned it for a few months and no issues.

Yeah, I suspect the heatsinks (the silver triangle-ish metal bits) won't like being in a confined space like that, they're there to radiate the heat away from the chipset.

Excellent. Thank you for that.

I think I might give one a go.

I'll probably get the 402G for the front and the more basic Nextbase InCarCam 101 for the rear.

Here's an excellent and detailed review of the NEXTBASE 402G Professional iN-CAR CAM.

Slightly cheesy in places but very comprehensive.

I'm just off to buy one now!

I like the way you've shown how you can get a camera extension lead to move the tiny camera bit away from the rest of the Mobius. Is it the only dash cam you can do that?

Has anyone used the video usb output lead to connect to the car in dash screen or similar?

Not quite as indiscrete as I'd like, but I couldn't get any closer to the mirror because the frankly unnecessarily-huge box that houses the sensors for the auto lights and wipers covers too much of the camera's image. It still covers a bit of the corner now but it's a good compromise.
Friend has one installed in his Mondeo. Any reason why you didn't rotate it 180 degrees allowing you to mount the holder nearer the centre?

My Eprance 803 cameras keep telling me I need to format the memory card and it's becoming a real pain.

What's the best type of card for them? I'm currently using the ones they sent with the cameras but remember reading somewhere that class 6 work better than class 10, but can't form the information.

Cheers

A workmate with an 0801 had the same issue, it turned out to be a dodgy memory card. I use a class 10, Samsung 32GB card in my 0801 and never had an issue.

If you've got one spare, it might be worth trying that?

Does anyones 0806 have some plastic sticky in top right corner of LCD? Just unboxed mine and it looks like left over protective film - also looks like the lcd is "separated" underneath it i.e. looks like lcd leakage...

It's pretty firm hence I think it's pulling the top Layer of the Lcd up

It really is the corner of the protective film. I found it to be stuck much firmer than I might have expected . . .

Sample @ 2560x1080: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQCJQdt8PZI

I upgraded from the E-Prance 0805 to the v3 0806 this week and have been pleased with the upgrade.

Some key differences that make it worth it for me.

New:
- Polarising filter. In my convertible this is very useful as I have more light hitting the dash and reflecting on the glass in sunny conditions.
- Triple LED stack as opposed to single dual colour LED.
- Multiple 3M pads and sloped plates for different uses.
- 3rd LED can be customised to indicate mic on/off or GPS lock status.
- Dual mSD card slots.
- Comes with free hard wire kit that sells for £15-£25 online.

Improved over 0805:
- No more beeping when pressing buttons in the menus.
- Screen off time-out setting of 15s now available vs 1 minute on the 0805.
- Time/Date/Speed/GPS stamp settings refined, more logical.
- LEDs are not as bright at night, less distracting.
- The LCD panel doesn't have a glossy finish, more matte now.
- The lens front element appears to have more AR coating, the image appears sharper edge to edge as well, the 0805 was sharpest in the middle section of the frame.
- USB ports on both sides of the base, cane be used either direction and the 0806 has option to flip the image 180 degrees for this purpose.
- The 3M sticky pads are black! The grey ones on previous models were drew attention to the cam, the black looks OEM next to the rain/light sensor above the rear view mirror.
- You can choose what SD card slot to use, or use both.
- Same power adapter as 0805, didn't need to faff with cabling.

I don't like:
- How stiff the base is when slotting the 0806 in.
- The start-up and shutdown sound cannot be disabled once again.
So far...
