I upgraded from the E-Prance 0805 to the v3 0806 this week and have been pleased with the upgrade.

Which supplier did you buy from? I'm thinking of replacing my 0805 with an 0806, then installed the 0805 in the rear window.

Thanks.

Hi.

My OH who is technically challenged had an 0803 which he just couldn't get to work. Problem after problem, but admitted it was probably him, not the camera.

Eventually he had enough and upgraded to a Blackvue DR750lw 2ch.

An expensive bit of kit but great for him as he can download via wifi in seconds. Had it a couple of months now and he is over the moon with it.

I used this seller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351365724013?_trksid=p20...

Little dearer than other places but I wanted to be certain it was a v3 and the bundled hard wire kit I can sell to recoup some cost.

Or you could buy directly from the same person here.

From the ebay price it looks like they add enough to cover Ebay selling and Paypal fees, so save yourself a few £'s and buy direct.

I recently bought a 0806 and I'm generally pleased smile

However:

1/ when I view the clips back on the PC, some of them are not in order.....
2/ the screen sometimes lights up for a minute or so when I'm driving. Why?
3/ sometimes I get a message on the screen "format now" during recording. It is formatted. Any idea why?

Thanks.

I don't like:
- How stiff the base is when slotting the 0806 in.
- The start-up and shutdown sound cannot be disabled once again.
So far...
The stiffness reduces after a few insertions (careful) and I use this custom f/w which has no sounds:

Check your power supply is not intermittent, and check your memory card is not a fake (with h2testw).

I had a problem with it powering down, so I went from a built in power supply to a cigarette lighter one: used this for a week with no problems (that I know about). Built in one returned to supplier (Combi) and new one arrived today.

Card not fake, bought from Combi as well.

So had my Mini 0805 Ambarella A7 Cam Dash Camera, sat on my desk for a while
Today i went to fit it to my wifes Mk6 Golf
I bought a 64GB PNY micro SD card (50MB/s) from currys, which was £30

Had a few google searched first to see if anyone had posted a particular method for hardwiring it

Came across a good install guide on one of the UK golf forums
So thanks to the original poster on that site
As it has pictures which always helps
http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=2647...

What that install guide refers to and would have been handy was switching the contacts around between the camera and the base. I tried this but it appears the model in the above web site guide differs from mine.
As the unit cant be switched around as he did

So i put it back togther smile

I wired mine over the drivers side and down that A pillar as its the direct route to the fuse box

Positioned the camera where i felt best. I then had my wife hold a piece of paper on the outside of the winscreen with some guidelines lined up where i was holding the base unit. Very easy to do with sunlight and white A4
This allowed me to then move the base unit and remove the tape from the sticky back, and put back in place easily.
I did make sure the inside windscreen had been cleaned with white spirits beforehand, as some people have had issues with dashcams coming loose. This isnt specific to any model
Simply a case of dirty surface to mount to

I forced the hardwire kit into the headlining and A pillar as the install guide, and connected the earth to a convenient bolt in the fuse area
What it did highlight is i need to either figure out what the spare fuse areas are, or i need one of the dual fuse connectors frown

So for now i have connected with the cigarette lighter as well
I also would like to get a rightangle micro usb connector for the base unit so that my lead looks a little tidier.
But overall relativley painless

Unit works and the software automatically means i can watch on a pc, and it shows relative to google maps, with associated speed etc

Overall very happy smile

Update. ...

I went to buy the Next Base 402G but was rather disappointed in the quality & feel of the unit.

So; I went for a Mio MiVue 518 which works seamlessly out of the box.

It was £89 plus £15 for a 32gb class 10 SD card.

It's small but has a large screen.

It is auto start; has GPS & G shock plus Park recording & is 1080p HD.

I decided to buy a second one today for the rear.

Apologies if this question has been asked before, but I have some slightly unusual circumstances here.

I'm looking at getting a dashcam, but the difficulty is that I change cars every 3 months (I work in the car industry and our car scheme is designed to provide the supply of low-mileage, < 6 month old used cars)

GIven that I have to return these cars in pristine condition, and also that I don't particularly like cables trailing everywhere, I'm wondering if there are any options for me here. I don't mind the initial installation and final removal from the car taking up to about 15 minutes. Is it practical to use the 3M pads for this? Also, are there any dashcams with a long enough wire that I could tuck it into the headlining, all the way down the A Pillar and around the edge of the dash to wherever the 12V cig lighter socket is without having too much of it visible?

The cars I have range from anywhere between a small family hatch to a large 4x4.

Well in a reliability fail, my mate's 0806 is now dead and refusing to turn on. It started playing up a week ago not coming on with switched power etc but not won't do anything so he's going to have to return it.

The 080* units do seem to be luck of the draw ito quality and reliability.

Most come with the option of a hardwire kit, in real terms this is just a wire pushed into the headlining and taken to the fuse area. Then you simply pull out an appropriate fuse, andpush in a dual fuse convertor to attach your wire to
Some cars have spare fuse points.

Alternativley simply take the cigarette lighter power lead all around the headlining, A pillar hide under the dash the best you can until you plug it into the cigarette lighter

The sticky pad on the windscreen will simply take a bit of elbow greasse when removing at the end of your term with the car

You can get little clear suction cups such as these and use them to route the cable around the edge of the windscren.
