My Mobius still seems to be randomly missing recordings.

In the screenshot below my journey to work on the 10th is fully recorded, but the recording home is cut short at 16:56. I then made a journey out at 17:41 which again is recorded, but then only the first clip of the return journey.

Yesterday, only the first clip of my outbound journey was recorded at 07:34, but my home journey is fine.

Is this going to be down to the card? This is the 3rd card I have put in the thing to get it to work, and is a fully branded and packaged Kingston card. Even when it isn't working properly, the record light is still flashing as I have been checking it, so I don't even know it isn't recording.

At this rate I might bin it and buy something I can rely on.

This year I've had two no fault accidents.
Both times the other party admitted liabilty and then changed their story.
I think the way to go is a "black box" dash cam.
Any recomendations ?
I want one that is almost like a race V box which shows speed etc.

Cheers
Just entered this thread.

I was always told never admit liability for an accident at the scene, despite any 'obvious' fault from either party.

Is it not better to leave the insurance companies to sort out any culpability having reviewed all the evidence?

Apologies if this has been highlighted before. (squawk etc.)

g
I had similar issues and it turned out to be the card. Tell tale sign was it started to refuse to be read in a card reader properly.

I swapped back to a 16GB card temporarily as it only holds two days worth of footage whilst I ordered a new one, but the 16GB has been rock solid reliable so it's stayed in the camera.

Sorry I haven't been through all 179 pages but can someone point me in the direction of a recorder that just records when the car is off?

I want something for when my car parked up...

G1W (I have one) will do what you need, obviously you need a live power feed for when ignition is off. Has motion detection built in.

But it will also record all the rest of the time as well, unless you remember to turn it off at the start of each journey and on again at the end.

I'm trying to find a dash cam that can run for a reasonable period (1 hour +) on it's own power, so that I don't have wires running over the dashboard and I can easily move it from car to car.

The nearest I found is the RoadHawk RIDE helmet camera. Does anyone have experience of how these work behind the windscreen. Also are there any other dash cams available with a reasonable battery life?

Thanks for your time.

I've just been doing a long overdue clean-up of the files on my Roadhawk RH-1 and realised I need to get a bit more up to date with camera technology as the video quality is even worse than I remember.

It's been 100% reliable in the 5 years I've had it and I'm keen to replace it with something equally robust but with higher resolution (the RH-1 is 320x240@30fps, 640x480@30fps) but without the Roadhawk prices (the HD-2 is ~£250).

Are the later gen 0806's (4th gen now?) still worth a look?

It's gone back up in price now to about £35. I bought it on impulse though and realised today it's not got GPS.

Ive started the return process but if you're interested I could sell it on for what I paid plus postage.

Will get a link now.

Thank you Davie.
Gone up to £40 already! looks good, but how do we know it really is an 0801 with the Ambrella inside? There are a lot of similar cameras on the market.

Just a heads up for people looking for a new Dash Cam. I've had a Nextbase 402G for a couple of years now and it's a great little camera and Which? award winning.

I just got this email from Rakuten (the new Play.com). The prices usually fluctuate between £120-150 so it's a good price at £107.99 with the added bonus of £21.40 of super points to spend on Rakuten (you could use them to buy a micro SD card / Hardwire kit / case for the camera).

wondering if anyone can help.

I have a Mini 0803 which i have had for a year now. I've just installed it into my new car hardwired to an ignition live, same as it was on my old car. The camera will come on with the ignition but after 5 or so minutes it will turn off, yet the charging light is still on. If i press the power button it will turn back on but 5 mins later its off again.

I've turned motion detect and the screen auto shut down off yet its still happening.

Is there something i've missed or is my camera suddenly faulty?

Hi folks,

I've got a A118 wedge and a Mobius; both cameras are interfering with poor-but-solid-if-the-camera's-not-on DAB signal in my car. I cut down the RF on the wedge by making a tin cover (bodged Faraday cage) for it and earthing to the USB ground but it's still not perfect.

Anyone able to recommend a properly RF-supressed camera that won't be too expensive?

Ferrite core on the USB and or Radio RF cable?

I'm after a bit of help. I apologise in advance that it's going to be duplication, but I suspect the size of this thread has reached critical mass.

I work for the Police and would like a dash camera. The force does not provide it's own for us.

I don't want to spend an absolute fortune at all really, but I'd like something that's small, and none intrusive. Sound doesn't matter too much. It needs to be durable because it's going to be pulled in and out of different vehicles 2 or 3 times a day, every day, and if possible, running/recording all day long, for 7-8 hours a day, 5-6 days at a time. Size is probably most important, I don't want a 32" LCD TV in the windscreen.

Needs to be good at all hours, and conditions, and ideally can cope with filming at speed. The primary purpose will not be evidential in terms of offences comitted by others, but rather a back covering exercise if involved in a collision whilst on a light run. The black boxes in our vehicles only give half a story. I don't need something which is going to be able to show someone using a mobile phone for 3 seconds at 300ft in high-definition.

I've read techmoans site, and the only one I like at the moment is the G1W, but I'm not overly keen on the way it overlaps, and stutters for a second when it's joinging clips. If any other emergency service drivers have experiance of their own, it'd be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm staggered that there isn't:

1. A requirement to have a camera fitted to all squad cars
2. A standardised piece of equipment for that purpose
3. Some internal guidance about what the use of them can incorporate

Yes, ferrite on the USB. I've gone through many variables, just in case, but the camera still does it even when running on its internal battery and no USB charging going on anywhere in the car. Someone else on Techmoan has chipped in to say they've had trouble too, but I suspect it's going to be a long wait for a definitive answer. As my Mobius seems to interfere much the same as the wedge+cage, I might knock up a cage for that and see if I can get it down to useful levels.

If only Planet Rock hadn't turned the signal off in my area... this RF trouble is now important as I'm trying to pull in a signal I shouldn't really be getting at all! Like I say, at the moment it's solid if the camera's off.

I readtechmoan and debated for ages as to which to get. Had a roadhawk for many years but wanted to update it. Went for a Transcend from Halfords with the GPS for a few reasons - wanted a shop to take it back to if it went wrong, techmoan gave it a good review but most important was that it appeared to be reliable or more so then some others tested. It has a small screen so when moving to different cars its easy to set up again. Waited for a sale at halfords then added another discount with brit cyc org membership.

So far Im happy with it.
