Mini 0806 has died that's the third mini camera I've had die so I'm done despite really liking the mounting option and style.
If the capacitor 0826 was available I might have gone with that.

Anyway I've just impulse bought a ddpai mini can't be that bad shame it's silver
0806s are known to be flakey. I have 2 0805s running for around 18 months now, no issues. I have just ordered another for the rear of one car too.

Mine died also. I replaced it with an entry level BlackVue. No screen to distract you and still small enough to be discrete. Much better quality too.

Need a front and rear facing camera solution for an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante.

Any suggestions? I've yet to see something that makes sense for a convertible. I'd like to out a forward facing camera in the grill and a rear facing low mounted or, if necessary, on license plate bracket.

Can anyone help me with what to wire a rear camera to switch on and off with the ignition? I have a basic 0806 and don't want to run a hard wire kit to the front of the car

What car? Cigarette lighter socket anywhere near. Perhaps interior light which would be live when ignition on because it's switch controlled, is there a light that comes on when you open the boot?

Looking forward to hearing your views on it. Spent a year or so pondering over a dashcam and now that I finally have a car that I intend on keeping for a while it makes sense to buy one. Had the 750 on my eBay watchlist for ages, just changed it for the 770.

Wouldn't all these be permanent live?

It does depend on what car, agreed, for example my own has one of its 3 main fuse boxes below the boot floor, both permanent live and switched with ignition positions are available. This would make wiring in a rear cam relatively easy.

Good point well made, yeah they would be in most cases

Those parking modules are cheap on amazon like this. Added benefit of rear camera always on I suppose but won't drain battery. This could be one way around it.

Edit this ddpai looks great really easy to set up. Does it all itself probably only use the app for aiming.

Put a card in and in perfect English card initialising. Don't habpve to do anything.

Shame it can't be easily swapped between cars like the mini cameras but oh well I never really did that anyway

Apologies, it's a 2012 Ford Focus. There is a 12v socket in the back but wouldn't really want anything plugged into it as it would get kicked. Could sire into the back of it though with a good hardwire kit for a fused supply?

Thinking of getting the DDPAI m6 plus which has a great parking function. However, that means either adding an additional battery hard wired in like on the Techmoan website (expensive) or a low voltage detector (much cheaper).
I like the idea of not affecting the car battery when the ignition is off. I can see how long the additional battery can expect to last from the specification but my question is - how long would the camera run for in parking mode if I just used the car battery and a voltage detector? At what point should it be set to turn off and therefore leave enough power to still start the car (with a bit of leeway)?

For me the option to direct wire to pernanent live and use a low voltage protection device is a non starter, sorry pun quite intentional. Reason is the vehicle I'll put it in has a Haldex 4wd system, low battery voltage throws up all sorts of errors. Admittedly these reset themselves once the engine is running and gone a few miles down the road and some juice back in the battery, but rather not have more pop up messages with then having to check if it's a 'real' problem or not.

I bought the hardwire kit that is linked from the DDpai ebay page.

So far, I have left it 3 days and it's still recording OK.

I don't think the voltage cut off is adjustable on that one, but... I did run the battery a bit low while installing it (along with a load of stereo gear etc)... when I turned the ignition on to check the stereo, the car's heater fans came on and I heard the camera turn itself off a few seconds later so the voltage had obviously dropped too far; the car still started just fine.

There is an option to turn off parking mode after a predetermined amount of time. Set mine to 24hrs and no more flat battery smile
