There is an option to turn off parking mode after a predetermined amount of time. Set mine to 24hrs and no more flat battery smile
That may be a better solution for the moment to see how it goes before spending money needlessly.
So were you getting flat batteries before you changed to 24 hours switch off? How long before it went flat?

I wanted to find something as small and unobtrusive as possible so I've bought this to replace my ePrance Mini0801

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01H6J915C/ref=pe_3857...

It looks OK from the reviews, so I'll report back once its fitted and working.

The F770 works pretty well. Night vision is good, rear cam is good, parking mode works fine, it tells you if there was an event during parking (saves things as stop motion, allows you to set battery voltage to turn off if needed in the app too), saves all the videos into little segments so you can pick and choose, download to your phone over wifi or the old fashioned way by removing the card and copying onto laptop/PC. I guess this is mostly normal? No idea. It warns you about speed cameras, but I have turned off the lane assist and the other similar function, as by and large they're a bit crap (so I hear).

The one minor minor niggle - in my new car with no rattles, I can hear the little plastic buttons rattling at certain revs. biggrin

Yes I was. I reckon if I didn't drive for 3 or 4 days it would struggle, and any more and I'd have to jump it. Drove it for the first time in 2 or 3 weeks last night (dashcam in a different car) and it roared into life so nothing wrong with the battery!

Pretty much my view on F750, it just works, had mine for some time now and absolutely no issues whatsoever. I also turned off lane assist as it doesn't know when you actually intend to swap lanes, unlike the systems now being built into cars as standard.

The F770 looks like it's top of my list now.
I like that the rear camera is HD and that it only connects to the front camera via a usb cable. No separate power needed. A smaller front camera would be nice but I think it will hide well enough.

Anyone use one with a separate battery like the Cellink B?

I had it wired into the car's electrics. I paid someone to do it, which was very un-PH

I've just got a DDPai Mini 2 which I'm really pleased with, I specifically wanted something small and discrete.
However, when I tuck it right up behind the mirror as planned, the bloody huge rear view mirror/auto lights sensor casing gets in the way!
Slightly annoying, but I suppose having the cam like that is better than not having one at all.

Ignore the image quality, I've not removed the lens protective cover until I install it, I'm just waiting for the hard wiring kit to arrive.

Haha when I got my camera I didn't realise there was a plastic film over the lens.
I thought this isn't very clear smile

It seems the mini2 isn't all that far of the M6+ in terms of image quality, be interested to see how you get on with it, especially at night.

Can you take it apart and turn the mounting 'foot' around ? in other words have the usb socket on the lens side ? that'd push the lens further away from the mirror housing.

It was on mine too, until I watched a video review. Seems too big to hide, really needs to be removable, but can't see how you could that.

Unless someone makes self adhesive magnets...smile

Anyone got any suggestions for a dash cam that doesn't record audio? Must be cheap and decent-ish quality

You can turn audio recording off on most of them

Thats exactly how my camera is fixed in. I can remove it in a few seconds.

A chap over on BabyBMW put this little mount kit together for mobius cameras:

the angle bracket is stuck to the mirror housing (where the rain sensor etc is), the silver things are magnets and are very strong, camera isn't going anywhere. To remove, unplug the camera and grab it, fitting is the reverse of removal as Haynes manuals would say smile

I'll post some night footage up once it's all installed.
Nothing would be gained by turning the foot round, it would just be the same as mounting it as it is now but rather away from the mirror

Before you fit it check for firmware updates. Mine has been running happily for a few days tonight in way home started saying card error. A bit of googling shows this is common and a firmware upgrade sorts it to loop record . Problem is it's now in the car so I'll have to do it with ignition on and me sat in it or power it from a laptop and go have a cup of tea.

Thinking of one of these -

Does anyone know if they're any good? I really know nothing about them, but a quick search suggests they're OK?

I just need something compact, reasonable enough image quality, which won't have wires left dangling everywhere.

Techmoan says that this is the cheapest camera that works:-
