Almost, I think. The only one mine still gives is after a "parking incident " - it announces how many incidents have happened whilst car was parked.

Don't know how to stop that, other than turning parking mode off I suppose.
Thanks, that's the impression I got from the many YouTube reviews I have watched. I guess I can live with that.

Or turn the volume right down.
Does that silence it completely?

Not tried but sure I've seen that suggested on Dashcamtalk website.
Might need to turn it down while the unit is actually speaking?

My mini2 came from Bedford in the link I gave earlier. It arrived in a couple of days.
Mine is hard wired into the fuse box, it's very straight forward and anyone who has fitted a headunit or understands very basic electronics could do it.
You simply connect the red wire to a permanent live and the black to earth
If you're connecting it to a permanent live, how are you switching it on and off?

It has the voltage checker built into the hard wiring which turns it off if the voltage drops to a certain level, otherwise it turns off depending on how long you set it to record for after parking

I'm looking to spend around £100 on a dash cam. After previously having some horrid thing from Groupon that broke in about 5 minutes, didn't work in the dark and had badly translated from Chinese instructions that bare no resemblance to how it is actually operated I'm prepared to spend more money on a 'known' brand.

Can anyone recommend something that won't break, has instructions in English, works in the dark and turns on automatically with the ignition?

Thanks Paul

I did have a look but after looking at some reviews they said the instructions were pretty bad and I was concerned about aftercare support as it's not a make I know.

I'm always a bit weary of eBay electronics from unknowns as I always regret the purchase and wish I'd spent the extra on a brand where I can get support if it goes wrong!

Sounds like you should get a nextbase from Halfords as you'd have the support.

Other than that look at the A119 & A119S

The Mobius is very simple to use and there is a big support thread on dashcamtalk.

I just picked up a Rexing V1. Not had a chance to play yet but it seems to fit the bill nicely.

The only part of the instructions I read were to check the wiring colours for the install, the rest is all done in the app and is pretty straightforward

I bought the one listed as DDPai and a Samsung Evo 128GB card, they came earlier this week. Got it plugged into the computer, sorted a few settings and formatted the card when it came. Tonight I've fitted it in the car and had a little drive out to test it. First thoughts...

I definitely need the CPL filter, so I've just ordered one, the low sun in the evening affects the video a lot.

Happy that I can see registration plates of passing cars and little details like that (I've set it up with the 'blu ray' setting so its widescreen letterbox video.

I put the card in the computer when I got back, and the videos were there as 2 minute clips, 157.3 MB each. At first the video file names made no sense whatsoever hehe , but I can see now that it's time and date, so 20170407180229_118.mp4 is 2017, April 7th, 18:02. The 29 might be seconds, not sure on the 118.

Overall I'm happy so far smile .

Is there any love for the Blackvue 450 on here? or the nextbase 312?

It'll be my third as my 0801 is playing silly buggers and that replaced a chinese cheapo.

Blackvue has poor bit rate. Try Qvia (Lukas) if you're a fan of the form factor.

Anyone here interested in either a Vantrue N2 (with memory card) for £100 or an Aguri Fusion (with memory card also) for £100 and £130 respectively?

Both of them only weeks old and boxed etc. Neither of them "fit" the Aston as well as I would like due to the way that the centre section of the screen is busy with a large section where the interior lights sit so they project too much ideally. Both obviously as new.

I had a Qvia Lucas fitted last week. Works but ruined the DAB radio reception.

I've heard of some of the interference issues being down to the power adaptors rather than the camera its self. It may be worth trying an alternative one or routing the power lead in a different way.

I'm told it's because the rear camera is close to the radio antenna which is in the rear window? The car is a new BMW 540i - G30.

Anyone got any recommendations for a dual view (front & rear) dashcam in the one unit...?

Thanks in anticipation...

I think Blackvue make a good model. Also look on the forums/recommendations at dashcam.co.uk (or similar URL, you'll find it).
