Hi Guys,

Bought a satnav headunit to bring my grand vitara daily into the 21st century. Mainly for the Bluetooth connectivity and reverse camera option it came with.

All looks simple enough except one thing I'm not 100% sure on re. the camera wiring.

Camera wires are same as bottom view here...

Plan was to wire the black and red @ 2 to earth and reverse light respectfully so simple enough. However, the red wire at the other end of the aux cable which seems simple (ie. wire to reverse trigger on stereo) is causing me an issue...

I can't see where to connect it to on the headunit?

I've emailed the seller on ebay as it all came as one kit but no reply as yet. hoping to install this weekend so wondered if anyone here could help to ensure I get it right and the camera view automatically appears on the screen when reverse selected(electronics aren't my strong point!)

Cheers,

Dave

How about some clues - like make & model of the head unit ?

What I also forgot to add is my stupid question...

Do I just wire the single red (next to the camera aux) to the reverse light wire on the car as well?

The instructions that came with the camera are non existent apart from saying to wire the black and red of the camera to an ignition live. I figured wiring to the reverse lights made sense as no need to power camera until actually in reverse.

Cheers,

Dave

If its just a 12v trigger ( which I suspect it is) then wiring in to the revering light as well would probably work.

The problem is that he needs a trigger signal to the head unit to make it switch into camera mode. The camera provides one on the red wire, but he doesn't know where to stick it on the head unit. The sticker on the unit doesn't give any clues and until we know the exact MAKE AND MODEL, we'll just be guessing.
