looking for a decent nav app for iPhone, ideally something that will still work without a 3g signal,

not fussed if its a paid for or free app as long as it can be used anywhere in the country without the worry of getting a decent reception first

I've had co pilot on all my phones for years now, even the traffic monitor is accurate (in my experience)

how do you find it in areas with poor or no reception?

I use Waze and it seems pretty good - however it will struggle without a signal.

It works offline using the phones gps, so doesn't need a signal, great for europe as you don't rack up massive bills with data roaming.

I notice they do a free version with in app purchases now, Ive always had the premium so can't comment on the difference.

Google maps is free and has never let me down once.

+1 on copilot, been using it for 6/7 years all over Europe. The only thing against it is that you can't pre route on a computer and transfer over. That said it's very easy to punch in a destination and then add a number of way points so no big deal
