No, here's the stupid question - what do you mean by adding both numbers? (!) I first tried accessing the tracker via the iphone and had no joy. Then I tried via the android and it works every time. Then I try the iphone again and it doesn't work.

There are some threads on the internet about lycamobile having problems sending texts to iphones with no clear resolution. WIll try a three mobile SIM later to see if that's any better.

Have you set up authorised numbers?

If you haven't, my manual states that if call the tracker 10 times it will automatically set that number as the admin number, it then won't then accept commands from another phone.

Maybe you've authorised the Android, and now need to add the iphone.

Anyone bought/used a 'Trackr Bravo' (the small key-fob device?)

http://www.thetrackr-uk.co.uk/product/trackr-bravo...

If so I would be interested to hear your opinions/thoughts - considering buying one and placing it inside my car.
It's "crowd sourced GPS".

Someone with another one of their devices would have to be near your car to be able to sync it's current location, unless you put a phone in there too, in which case, just use the phone as a locator.

Good for tracking yourself/someone/thing with a phone, not much use to track anything else.
Cheers Dave, much appreciated, I won't be purchasing a Trackr Bravo to put into my car then!

Put in a Three 321 SIM and the problem went away. So something about Lycamobile SIMs sending SMSs to Iphones?

Now must try the GPRS position reporting.

Yes that's the correct one, I bought mine direct from Rewire.

You should be able to get a SIM card direct from Giffgaff for free. I believe gpslive is still free, you will need to register the tracker with them.

Not sure if it's already been mentioned in this thread but I've been considering fitting a hidden old phone into my car for a while for DIY tracking and came across this app last week; https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gps-location-track...
I got a free sim off Three with 200MB of free data per month and fitted an old iphone behind a vanity panel in the boot. I've rigged up a power supply to it and installed the app and it works perfectly. There's a mode specifically for vehicle tracking which will only send location updates when the phone is powered, to save data and battery life and while charging can be set to send updates at various different intervals of your own choosing.

The tracking is done on their website over a Google Maps overlay (also works great on mobile) and if you pay for the licence ($6) then you get to view location history as well as the ability to send a request for a forced update. Looking at the app on the phone shows a log of activity rather than any GUI, other than the settings pages which are the normal app style with toggle sliders etc. It runs and tracks silently in the background.

Edit to add that the name of the app and website is Followmee

A screengrab from my map page for this morning as an example;

I'm looking for a smallish device that can be hidden in engine bay somewhere that can also be hooked up to the car battery or similar for my car?

what's best options? I want something plug and play rather than having to fiddle around making kits etc.

Interesting...I did try something similar before going down the tracker route. I tried using the "find my iphone" feature on an old iPhone, but found it didn't like being constantly charged (as it is in my set-up). The phone kept locking up.

Presumably in your case, if the phone goes flat the app automatically launches when the power is restored?

Correct. If the battery goes flat, as soon as power is restored the phone boots and since the app is installed as a service and set to run in the background it will also track. In addition, if a thief discovers the device and tries to get access but disables the phone it will still track.

Oh and I can setup a geofence to send an alert via email as well.

First link doesn't seem to work.

What's the benefit of a TK104 over a TK102? OK, you can hard wire it and it's a neater solution, but the TK102 is tiny and just needs a USB power supply. Can easily be hidden behind the dash and much harder to find that something that has a separate relay etc.

the link doesn't work when I click it, but when I copy and paste it into a new tab it works - alternatively search for 'Three free data SIM' in google, that was how I found it.

TK104 has internal battery (no idea how long it lasts), that was whatI thought was a good idea.

I was researching this a couple of months ago. Doesn't the 104 have a micro SD card slot so that you can remove it and download it and also record your positin if no phone signal is available to allow it to send it when it regains a signal.

I spent half a day researching them both but the info is very sketchy to say the least with two different eBay sellers listing the 104 with different features to each other.

Until I can get a definitive answer I am considering using my old iPhone and the app mentioned previously.

Yes the TK104 has a micro SD slot, not sure of maximum capacity.
6000mAH battery built in it says

think I've found an issue with the TK104 - its a 2G device I understand.
Hence the free 3 data SIMs won't work with it.
checking it out, and trying to find another good data deal
