Wondering if I can get some advice please.
My father has been using a speed camera detector for a while now, but his latest one has given up the ghost. He does have a sat nav but very rarely uses it, most.y because he finds it a bit fiddly for him as he's not too tech savvy.
It seems that a sat nav with a good DB of cameras and speed limits would be a good all in one solution.
Thing is, he doesn't want to have to plug in a destination just to get the camera detector warnings.
So, can you guys confirm if one of the newer garmins for example, can be used as a simple plug in speed camera detector without the navigation function?

Sorry, my expertise is non existent too as I just use Google maps on my Android.

Many thanks

Even the old ones will do it I think. The problem is that the speed limits are not necessarily right. For main roads and motorways in the UK yes but in Europe it can differ. As for the speed cameras if based on POIs like PocketGPS then there's a lot of false positives.

as the other reply said it depends how up to date the database used by the sat nav is ... and how often the sat nav gets updated ...
