I am looking for a Sat Nav that is just as happy in the UK and Europe as it is in the US.

In the past I had a TomTom 700 that was fantastic in the UK and Europe but was never used in the US.
What is the one to get now?

I have tried various ones and have come back to the TomTom 920 or 930. Even though the screen is small compared to current offerings, it just works best for me.

The 4 gig internal card is more than enough for Europe. I use the SD card slot for the US, Africa and Australia.

Any, so long as you buy the right maps.

Worldwide or just Europe and USA? This is currently reduced as there is a new one out, has Uk & Europe plus USA mapping. The other option is to buy a UK/Europe sat nav and add the USA maps over there. Some say they will be cheaper.

I have a Garmin with European maps and bought an sd card on Ebay which gives me all USA and Canada.

For South Africa we used Navmii on an IPad - It's a free app.

The new TomTom 5100 and 6100 launched last week both have worldwide maps together with lifetime map, traffic and camera updates.

Picked one up today but yet to even open the box. Cost me less than my Go1000 did 4 years ago and that's cost me £60-£80 a year for updates so the new one will be a lot cheaper over it's lifetime.
