Can tyre be used as an alternative to Garmin basecamp?

In order to create routes for the latest generation of Garmin sat navs, can Tyre be used as the route planning software, then uploaded into the Garmin unit, or is it Basecamp only?

Sorry don't know, but IMHO Garmin's own MapSource is much better than BaseCamp which superseded it, and should work; I can use either with my earlier-generation 76CSx.

Map source doesn't work on a Mac, unless you run it under a windows emulator. So if you have a Mac, its Basecamp only

Thanks for the replies to date. Can Tyre interface directly with my Garmin unit, or do I need to create the route in Tyre then upload via an alternative application?

I create routes in Tyre, then export them as .gpx files, import the .gpx files into Basecamp and recalculate the routes using the correct map.
Then plug in my Garmin device and hit "Send to device" in Basecamp.

Slightly convoluted but works very well.
