Garman Nuvi.............Strange
Discussion
I don't use my nav much, just holidays and stuff, most journeys I'm quite familiar with so maybe 3000 miles p.a.
However yesterday a bit of an odd one. A regular jaunt so no need for nav and I didn't bother setting any destinations. Out of curiosity I decided to set the trip computer so reset the lot. I've deleted the figures now so from memory
51000 miles
9000 miles per hour average
89 top speed (about right)
5:46 Hours (about right)
The trip was just under 300 miles on a mix of motorways and rural roads.
What gives?

Sounds like a software error means it thinks the journey start point was 51000 miles away, then it's recalculated how you've moved positions so quickly (without actually registering a speed, which is held separately in the data log). i.e. Position start was 51000 miles away, then the data has reset and moved you to a correct position without logging a new top speed.
