Aux input wired off cd changer help
Discussion
Posted in audio but I need some replies before tomorrow so I can pick up the bits in town during the day.
Back story - bought a 1995 bmw 730i for £200, refuse to spend any decent amount of money changing the radio + fascia with wiring kit or buying a proper kit to add an aux in.
Looking into fitting aux inputs for this as it should cost like £10 most if diy, I have a 6 cd changer in the boot (not attached to the car, just dangling from its wires)It powered up and ejected the cassette when asked though so figure it works. Where abouts is best to splice into the plug or into this changers wiring for adding an aux input with a blank noise cd in the changer. Assumed at the input into the rear of the radio, but not sure on dificulty removing it from a e38, and then knowing which wires.
Shopping list so far seems to be a female aux jack with 3 wires attached, some small gauge wire to solder into the plugs of the cd changer and find a old blank cd to put silent track onto.
Any help much needed as I dont live near anywhere of use if I forget something.

No idea how or why or whether possible you intend to operate both the aux and the cd changer at the same time.
I only know that for a Becker on a Porsche or VW, you just buy an aux cable that plugs into the back of the unit instead of the CD changer. It is quite possible that a similar cable is available for your unit, no idea what type of sockets yours takes.
Have you googled "(unitname) aux cable"?

It takes the input from both the aux and the cd changer at the same time, so you have to have a cd with silent tracks on it. Its a fairly common DIY mod is there isnt a aux cable but you have a cd changer.I only know that for a Becker on a Porsche or VW, you just buy an aux cable that plugs into the back of the unit instead of the CD changer. Re the FM modulator - perhaps you are thinking in terms of the cigarette lighter plug in ones in which case yes you are right lots of interference and much dodginess. However there are FM modulators that are wired up and plug in directly to the aerial input and these are as decent as anyone would require them to be. Obviously there is some install involved. This sort of thing.

I fitted one to one of my cars as did not want to spend any proper money on it and it works well.
