Hello - I need someone to reconnect 4 speakers in
a 1967 Daimler, it's probably not too difficult a job - but beyond my limited
ability!
Speakers are in and fitted, plus the wiring it's just the final wiring.
Car based in Putney SW London.
However I can take it anywhere in London.
All suggests / recommendations appreciated
David

Is it a standard new unit or old? New is standard ISO which you can google for connections. I have a few contacts in the industry.

Hello David,
It's an old unit that has been updated to FM and iPod connection.
The car is positive earthed.
It's a job for an old fashioned installer, perhaps not a boom box sub woofer
hi-tech person !
But all recommendations greatly received...

David

If it has been modified, does the modifier not have a wiring diagram. Very few old units were four speaker output so they would have be wired in series or parallel. Send me a pic of the wiring coming from the unit.

Hello David
I am afraid I don't have a wiring diagram. However
2 hours in a freezing underground car park got sound out of the left hand channel.
No sound from left front and tonight going remove back seats from the car to find the
l/h rear cable! It goes into the car from the boot, but then disappears! once that's done
it's off to buy clamps and a splitter as its two channels from the radio.
67 Daimlers are pretty rudimentary. But thank you for your offer.
Best regards
David

I can only imagine you will have two speaker wires from the radio, the negative for the speaker being chassis. Modern units do not use chassis as negative. If so basically the output from the radio will go through the one speaker into the second and then to chassis. Same for the other channel . Who made the radio?

Northolt any good for you? There is a guy there who can remember positive earth ! I can ask him if he will look at it if you can't sort it.

Hello David
Northolt is fine, it's just up the A40.
The car (apart from a on going power-lite dynamo issue)
is mechanically on the button!
I was starting to look at wiring accessories like splitters etc, but if a professional
can do it - fantastic - there is a recent string on pistonheads on mistakes when doing
diy jobs - I could fill it with my incompetence !
Thank you for your help David

I really think we can do it, once you get sound from all four, I can tell you how to wire them. There is no voltage as such to worry about. However, I can speak to him on Tuesday if you still wish to go that route.

Hello!
So located wires!
But it means front seats out.
The front right no sound - so panel will need to come out.
None of it technically testing but time consuming.
I am away now until next Saturday. So I can't tackle
until a week on Sunday. But I will visit an audio shop
to buy the necessary!
Thanks for your help- enjoy your weekend.
Pity it's rubbish weather..
